Hey guys, Just wanted to drop out an update...last time I didn't tell my wife I was trying to quit. Hell even hid the fact that I chewed from her. Well, tonight I told her about my plans and about the KTC community. I was shocked, she was totally supportive and even asked some similar questions that a few of you hit me with (what's different this time, why do you want to quit, why did you even chew at all). Anyhow, thanks for the nudges to tell her. Makes it better when I don't have to hide what I'm going through at home and having someone to talk to in addition to you all.

Now if I could just sit back and enjoy the rest of the world series vs. just focusing on the players that are dipping and spitting.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Smitty

Great job BSmitty-
One day at a time can be broken down into 30 seconds at a time if need be. The cravings will get better, and you will get better at managing your reaction to them. If it seems overwhelming, reach out via txt/call with a brother here or get on the site to read/chat if possible.
Come clean with your wife. She already knows you chew, she will be happy you are quit. This will strengthen your accountability to your quit and I bet she will be supportive. You need to go all in my friend and not leave any doors cracked open for the nic bitch to reach you. PM me if I can help!

Just be honest with your wife and honest with yourself. Your an addict. Just like me and you are now quit from nicotine. 1 day at a time. Most wives know the truth anyway, might as well get the nic bitch out in the open so everyone knows what you are dealing with right now.

One thing, do not rage at your family. Rage here all you want. We welcome it.
Enough is enough. Time to take control back from the nic bitch. My HOF speechGR8WHITEBUFFALO

Allright, I was here a few years ago and failed but really want to try again and succeed.  Just dropping this out here as an intro for my new start.  Been dipping for 17 years and need to quit and looking forward to the support in this group.  I keep telling myself that I'll quit tomorrow or next week but have realized that there will never be an ideal time.

Last time through this I didn't follow through with any contacts for support through the process so please feel free to reach out to connect.

Looking forward to posting roll call tomorrow.
What happen? Why did it happen? What's goin to be different this time?

Throw your shit out, go post roll now!

Learn from your previous mistakes and grow...lots of people came in failed and came back stronger then ever (wastepanel, buddymac, cnc) you can be added to that list. But own your failure and more importantly own your quit. Start your day off everyday with posting roll...fuck go do it right now, Feb'13, right next to me. Side by side brother we can quit today, we'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow, but for now, let's kick the nic ass today.

Glad to be quit with you.
What Bruce said...
You failed on this site last time because YOU didn't reach out and use the tools available here. You need to make contacts here, reach out to others. Support others in their quit and they will support you. There is a ton of peer support to be had here, but you have to do your part.
I'm glad you are back and ready to quit. Let's do it right this time, get on top of the nic bitch (your addiction) and stay on top.
"...try again..." Come on Smitty, have you learned anything?
Thanks for the comments. This first day sucked...in meetings at work and the ONLY thing I think about is chewing. Just reading your comments are great and has really caused me to think about how/why I screwed up last time. I think last time I was 'hoping' I could do this and now I'm trying to get my mind around the fact that I have already quit. When things get tough I need to appreciate driving by the convenience store instead of stopping by to buy a new can. This morning on my way to work I told myself, I only needed to be strong for 1 minute today...the 30 seconds I drive by the store on my way to work and the 30 seconds I drive by on my way home.

I made it w/o stopping each time today but now I can't think about anything but finding an excuse to run out for a few minutes so I can go get a new can. Trying to stay strong and about ready to go to bed...

Also, last time I didn't tell my wife I quit...thought I could hide this from her and do it on my own (I've always hid the fact that I chew even though she always finds my spitters). I plan to tell her this weekend and share the spousal support information. If you guys have any suggestions on what works well with telling the wife, please let me know. I dread that conversation as I feel that just being a dipper makes me weak...I know, sounds lame but I have internalized this struggle for years.

Thanks guys!

Looking forward to posting day 2 tomorrow am.

Flush that shit now and go post roll. I'm curious about asking us to "feel free to reach out." I think you might misunderstand how things work here.

Nobody can do this for you. We won't beg you. YOU must put forth the effort. If YOU have the determination, YOU will be successfull. So, quit asking us to reach out to you and start quitting now. YOU can do this, brother. YOU really can.

Quit now and quit talking about it. That was pretty dumb to start dipping again.
Quit 8/14/12 and taking my life back one day at a time.

If you don?t control what you have access to, what you have access to will control you.

I?m trying to remind myself daily it?s not the absence of conflict that determines whether or not my relationships are healthy. It?s knowing how to handle the conflicts that will arise.

Character is who we are, not who we pretend to be. It's better to be shaped than to be fake.
