Gopens - GREAT choice!!! Post roll, keep your word, repeat. And tell those other cops I said "FUCK OFF" (for trying to derail your quit, or course...no other reason :P ) Just kidding.

Seriously though. For some reason, fellow addicts don't like it when someone goes clean. I dipped Copenhagen for 20 years...with college buddies and co-workers...like a brotherhood of stupidity.

I finally woke up after one of those 9-11 Survivors shows. The kid on TV was 3 when he the tower came down and he lost his father...a fire fighter. He was about 10 or 11 talking about how he missed his father. And there I was watching the whole story and getting choked up with my 3 yr old in my lap AND A FUCKING DIP IN MY MOUTH!!!

That was it for me. I became angry at the Nic Bitch who was trying to take me and leave my son to experience that child's pain. His father died doing his job through no fault of his own. I'll be damned if I'm going to intentionally put my son (and family) through that pain. It was easy at that point to quit cutting up about quitting. I left the brotherhood of stupidity. I'm at Day 497 and they still give me shit...just a lot less frequently now.

Stay strong and stay quit, brother!!!

Your on the right track gopens. Get posted up in your quit group. This is a promise to yourself and your quit group that you won't dip today - one day. You can quit for one day right? Its about accountabilty, integrity and brotherhood. This place will make you a strong quitter if you let it. PM me if you need anything.

I initially wrote a lenghty introduction, fraught with rationalizations and excuses. Bottom line is I've been at it for 13 years in some variety (copenhagen, skoal, snus). I've been quit for up to 8 months at any given time. I remember all to well the first few days.

Last Thursday, Jan 11th I threw out the can and have been nic free since. No meds, no nic gum, no snus. Just more food and orbit chewing gum.

This time has been the easiest and it's scary, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm a police officer, and most of the guys at work dip. Naturally they're throwing it in my face and having fun with it (cause that's what we do).

Aside from missing the buzz and little bit of burn while cruising around in the patrol car, it hasn't been horrible. The crushing headaches, inability to concentrate, being an ass to my wife and co-workers etc...it just hasn't been there to the degree it was in the past.

For whatever reason, I started craving one and was looking forward to stopping by the gas station on the way to work in a little bit.

I know it's a mistake and I won't do it.
You've come to the right place- I strongly suggest you read through the pinned documents in the Welcome Center

This two will get you rolling
