Quit when you are 21, because tomorrow you'll be 31 and 10 years more in debt to the nic bitch. Dump it out today brother.
Outstanding advice thumb! that's so damn true! I quit I'm 25 then 30 before you know you be 50!start now don't worry about weaning don't work, one more dip, how many times you said that!
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Man you can do it, I know during deployment dip is EVERYWHERE! Just fight the urge, your young quit while you are ahead! You are young enough to save your gums, not get leukoplakia or (oral cancer) and have all your teeth as of right now. I didnt dip for long, but tons of my older buddies do and they all say man I wish I quit early. You wont regret it down the road, the shit you are putting in your mouth isnt worth it, only bad things will come of it with long term use. Smokey mountain didnt quite do it for me either at first, so I drank coffee or dipped grinded coffee beans. I have an addictive personality so after nicotine I got addicted to caffeine for a while, I drank like 4 cups a day. Hey, that is better than that crap and now I drink maybe a few cups of coffee a week, mostly herbal tea now.

Do what Jaker said. My goal was to quit when I was 21 too. But then I kept dipping for the next 20 years. Any time you set a quit date in the future, something will always come up. I know this for a fact because I did the same thing. The reason you'll fail is that you're an addict. And addicts with rationalize ANY excuse to get another fix. I did this too. I actually invented my own status...I was a "light dipper" because I took small dips and didn't keep them in long. 'Crazy' (I actually believed that too).

But when I got good and goddam serious about quitting, I spit that shit out. 9 days later I found this site. I learned how and why we post roll. So I did it. I learned about mutual accountability. I read everything I could. And I learned how to get back in control ONE DAY AT A TIME.

This site has made all the difference in my life. It can for you too. All you need to do is POST ROLL, READ and REPEAT. That's all there is to it. YOU CAN DO THIS, BROTHER!!!

First of all thank you for your service. There are quite a few current and former military guys here. This is one of the hardest things you will do. We don't TRY to quit here. We quit like fuck every single day, one day at a time. If you want to be nicotine free I suggest you dump whatever you have left and start cold turkey now and post roll in the June 2015 quit group. I'm probably one of many that will tell you that. Many people go through a lot of tomorrows. Let's make your quit date today. What do you say?

Day 1
« on: February 23, 2015, 06:19:00 AM »
I am a 21 year old marine, currently deployed and trying to quit. One of the hardest things I've ever done. I am married and I promised my wife I would quit. I can't stand myself for lying to her saying I've quit when I haven't yet. I've weened myself down from a can+ a day to just 2 dips a day the past couple of days. My goal is to be completely dip free by the end of this week. I've bought smokey mountain and other herbal/non tobacco substitutes. They help a little bit but don't take the edge off the way I would really like. Any advice from you guys who have been dip free for a while now?
