Joe

Welcome to QSX.
You are going to get tons of support and advice, so I'll give you the abbreviated version of mine. If you haven't already, start this morning telling everyone you know that you have quit for good. The more, the better. Hell, I walked around telling people I didn't know I had quit.

Second, get ready for one helluva ride. There will be times that no matter how many reasons you can come up with to quit, that your addiction will do everything possible to convince you to do "just one". Hang tough. It only gets better everyday.

Then, head on over to October '08, which will be your HOF group. Post up in there, get to know everyone, and start helping hold each other accountable.

Good luck. We're here to help you all we can.

Hey everyone. Quit date was yesterday (last dip was over at 8:30 am yesterday morning). Almost one day now. Have a little boy who's turning 5 this month and one on the way in January and figured that it was time to quit. Mom died of colon cancer last September, gram is dying of lung cancer (hasn't smoked in 40+ years) and decided enough was enough. I'm 35 this month and what a better birthday present. Was going through about a can a day or so of Cope Long Cut. Not anymore!

Welcome to the board Joe, glad to have you here. The next few days are gonna be a drag for sure, but it will all be worth whatever "the suck" has in store for you. Here's a pretty good road map for where you are headed. --Link

It looks like you've already found your group over in October 08. Those guys are all in the same boat as you in their quit. Read up on everything here and drink tons of water. When you are raging, rage here. When you are in the fog, let us know. Most of all, post roll and give us your word that you will not use tobacco today. Then keep that word.

And when you think that this quitting thing is so horrible that you just can't do it, imagine how horrible it would be to see that little fella look at you if you had this fate.--Another link
