Today your body will be rid of the nicotine. The next few days, weeks, or however long it takes will be filled with ups and downs. The ups will be how you feel when you Post Roll and keep the promise to be quit. The downs will be your brain trying to figure out what the hell is going on. It's gonna take time but it is so worth it. You will hear "It's gonna suck, then it won't" by many vets on here.

I also dumped plenty of cans only to stop at the store moments later.

Quitting the KTC way is the only way to quit.

You will be part of Sept 2014 quit group. That's the month you will hit Hall of Fame (If you are man enough to stay quit). Are you man enough? We sure hope so. Your life literally depends on it.
Quit with you today Free. This is what it's about. Get that quit on until it feels like you can't quit for one more minute. Then get on here and we'll pull you the rest of the way through. You've got this man, QLF today.

Great move my friend. I used to throw a full can out the window when I left home saying I was quit for good and then find myself searching the ditch that night when I got home just because I needed one more little pinch. I've tried it over and over by myself and never made it over a week quit before I would bum a dip or find a can at work someone threw away and scrape the bottom for just a little bitty pinch....and bam I was back on. But then I drank the KTC Kool Aid and everything fell into place. I didn't want to let my friends on here or myself down by breaking my promise.

And I won't lie, the withdrawal will get worse before it gets better. But it does get better and then you make it through the fog, and you wonder why you waited so long to quit. Like 30 years too long.

Figure out which quit group you're in and learn how to post roll. Posting roll is your promise not to use any kind of nicotine for that day. You are making that promise to yourself and to us. Keep you word. The next day...repeat. I'll be doing the same thing in the morning in my quit group (June Saloon). Make some friends and read up.

Welcome aboard.

Start here, in the Welcome Center - it will help orient you to what is going on.

If you are wondering how to quit, read this. Our process is simple - post roll, keep your promise, and quit for today. You have to quit for YOU and pay whatever price necessary.

Quit One Day At A Time (ODAAT), and QLF all day long. Visit the site a lot, it will get you through the crap. You have to make this quit about YOUR desire to quit; for me it was my independence followed by about a hundred other reasons. I used this post, this survivor story, and wrote a much less eloquent version of this letter. The basic question is this: Are you man (or woman) enough to quit?

Your spouse/significant other should probably read this. . . just don't let them find out about each other though 'Crazy'

You should literally drink GALLONS of water and will probably want to look at these helps too. Those tricks will help you minimize the withdrawal symptoms. I found these smokeless alternatives helpful to beat the mind games (specifically Hooch/Hooch Spitfire for its consistency and Smokey Mountain for its availability; make your own decision though!). Some quitters are legit hard core and quit with iron will... but I was a baby quitter with hooch and a KTC Chatroom iv drip.

The key is to stay quit. You may have to quit for the next minute, then the next minute, but the trick is to break the quit down and keep it alive.
How to post Roll Call. Post early and remember that it doesn't have to be perfect - the only way to really screw roll is not to be on it.

Stay quit. Post Roll.

Never cured, but quitting like this

I was a can a day chewer of cope for 30 years until I quit two days ago. For the past 10 years I would probably dump out a can a week in an attempt at quitting, only to wake up the next day and run to the store to grab another (I quit on a weekly basis). It got to a point when I would dip so much I would get physically sick, lay off for a day and then start right back up.

Since I quit I'm very nauseous (diarrhea) with a pounding headache and a dry horse cough 'help' .

This is hard, but I see the light to feel healthy and not being addicted to that stupid can!
Free ride. It is time. 10 years spent trying to quit? The only thing keeping you from quiting is you. Read everything you can here. Post roll every day....that's your daily promise not to chew. And grind it out. Put whatever you can in your mouth to control your craves. You can do this.

Hey man, thanks for sharing most of what you did in your post. The worm dirt is some nasty shit, and the you've committed to taking your life back today.

You're right that this is going to be hard. Really hard. Especially the first week or so. However, what's harder than that? Trying to eat without a tongue, trying to talk without a jaw, trying to wake up when you're dead. It's not THAT hard. The process is really simple:

1) Post your promise that you will not use nicotine in any form today (your quit group is pre-HOF Sept 2014);
2) Don't break that promise; and
3) Wake up and repeat.

One day at a time (ODAAT) is how we do things here. Proud to quit with you today and if you need anything just shout. Start building the relationships now while you're all amped up to quit so if you have a couple weak days in the near future, you've got the support you need already setup.
