Things are going a bit better each day - I have a new job that is stressful but I am looking at it like if I can quit with this extreme stress level - It will be less difficult once the stress isn't so bad.

I had one of those "dip dreams" a couple days ago I woke up and it took like 5-10 minutes to realize that it was just a dream.

Other than that just plugging away one day at a time.

Kind of a weird milestone today. First movie I have watched without dipping in 30 years. When I really think about how sick that is it makes me wish I had quit long ago. But no regrets because today I am quit.

And if anyone needs a movie recommendation go see The Equalizer - it was a good action flick.

Raider - I am from Bremerton but I go to eastern WA 3-4 times per summer to go fishing at Banks Lake. Excellent smallmouth bass fishing there.

Thanks for the support guys.

The medical thing wasn't why I quit - I went to the dentist on my quit day to make sure everything was okay - and it is thankfully.

The only reason I mentioned it ( I am normally very private about such things) was so others know the weird sores and patches dippers get and dismiss are nothing to ignore. I figured if it made it easier or caused one person to quit along with me it was worth mentioning.

Also posted roll yesterday and today hopefully correctly, and lastly...

Go Pats!
Sores and rough spots are all part of the healing process (in the vast majority of cases). Even at day 222 they scare the shit out of me.

What part of Washington state are you from? I'm in the Spokane area.

Welcome! I haven't checked to see you posted roll but that is the most important part of KTC. Do it every day, first thing.
Read everything and get active, it is hard to undo 30 years of addiction without a lot of dedication and hardwork.
you got this, PM me for digits,
Charles

Congrats on a great choice. Lipi covered it...post roll everyday and enjoy your new freedom. Be careful using a cancer scare as your motivation...the Nic Bitch will tell you that the "biopsy was noncancerous, so you're good." And even though you know that is bullshit, she can be pretty convincing.

20 days is huge. But it is just the start. The nic has been out of your system for about 2 weeks now. But the head games are just beginning. Stay determined. Keep your focus. Read everything you can. Learning about addiction is critical to a strong quit. YOU GOT THIS, BROTHER!

Welcome aboard. I'm impressed after that amount of time that you could make 20 days on your own, but I think you'll find that KTC will give you that extra motivation and accountability you're looking for. I'm going to assume that those first 20 days were mostly fueled by your cancer scare and that's a common theme with the people that come here. You just have to make sure to keep that memory of how terrible it felt to be scared for your life fresh in your mind and it will keep you quit for the rest of your life. KTC is a great tool in order to keep those things at the forefront.

Glad to have you join our ranks.
Yeah congrats on quitting bro.
Fear of cancer brought me here too, but the kool aid kept me coming back.
If you want to be quit, post roll, every day, keep your word, and repeat.
No problem. Hit me up via PM if you need anything.

Thanks - sorry about your Nationals the other night I was rooting for them.
No problem. They won tonight. Baseball is just like quitting nicotine. One day at a time. Except with quitting nicotine there are no losses. We have the ability to strike out the side every inning of every game in the sport of quitting. We simply make the choice, make the decision, commit to being quit.

You will do this. Just win today.

Congratulations on quitting and welcome aboard. Drink the KTC koolaid (it works), put your robe on,  don your bubble wrap/tin foil hat. Extend your life. I quit with you today.

The average life expectancy of a tobacco user is 20 years lower than a non-tobacco user. Read everything you can on nicotine addiction.

Hello Everyone
« on: October 06, 2014, 08:56:00 PM »
Hi all - I have been lurking for awhile preparing to quit. I have been dipping (Red Man to Kodiak to Copenhagen) for around 30 years close to a can every 1-2 days.

Right now I am on day 20 and will post role once I figure that out. The reason I waited was because on quit day one I went to the dentist and got referred to an oral surgeon for a biopsy for a rough patch on the right side of my mouth where I placed my dip.

Last Friday, I got the results back and luckily the rough patch in my mouth was not cancerous or pre-cancerous but the lab even stated this issue was due to tobacco use. One of the main reasons I decided to quit was because I was tired of worrying that every little sore or patch in my mouth was something serious(and it easily could have been).

At any rate, I have quite a few hobbies - sports, brazillian ju jitsu, reading, fishing and video games. I am from Maine but now live in Washington state and in between had a four year stint at Camp Lejeune NC.
