Thank you for your words of encouragement and that's great 110 days.

Quick question..Is my first roll call tomorrow or is it now (even though I had dip earlier in the day)?
day 1 starts when you spit the posion out and make your mind up, that you are done! Simple! When you post roll you, basically shake my hand and look me in the eye and promise me, and yourself that for today you will not beg borrow, bum, steal dip or ingest nicotine in any form whatsoever....for today!

Tomorrow when you wake up, you repeat that promise. I am a firm believer that the human can endure anything for 24 hours no matter how horrific. You can do this, if I can anyone can. I was the biggest candy-ass there was and had millions of excuses.

The main thing that keeped me quit until I learned all the quit tools to use, was that I aways thought of myself as a MAN OF MY WORD. When I give you my word, I will climb over hell and back not to break it!

You got this...post up Cindy!
Make sure you are ready for this. Roll is sacred.

When you put your name on roll it is your word and integrity.

Step up to the plate. You can do this.

Welcome D. Glad you found us. There are some awesome folks around here that will go through hell with you to help you stay quit. Make you some friends and get close with those in your quit group. You are going to need them, and those folks you connect with will be your friends for life. Give me a shout if you ever need anything. Take this serious, post roll daily, and I promise you will see results.

Dethan33

Your story sounds similar to mine 110 days ago, I chewed for 20 years before I found this site which gave me the courage and the tools to quit. I am a member of the December quit group (mheltun day 110) and I am proud to say that I have not had any nicotine (in any from) in 110 days. The key is posting roll each and every day, it holds you accountable and helps to prevent letting yourself and other members in your group down. I also have kids (2) and I intent to be around to watch them grow up, and I was also becoming concered for my health as well.

I would like to wish you luck at this time but it is not about any kind of luck, it is about doing and keeping your word to yourself your group and your family..

Regards, mheltun

Been Doing This A LONG time
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:45:00 PM »
I started dipping 16 years ago playing HS baseball. I dipped about a can a day into my mid 20's then stopped for a couple years. I've been using consistently for the last 5 years and don't want to do it anymore. When I first quit it was tough and I smoked some cigs at parties to deal with the urges. I'm extremely nervous about the withdrawals this time. I quit the first time with little support but don't think I can get through it without more this time.

I have played games with myself for too long about quitting. I found this forum late last night. I went to bed thinking I would quit on 1/11 (3 days b/f my daughters BDAY). After having several dips already today I think I'm just fooling myself with a quit date 2 weeks out.

I just dumped my last can of Kodiak down the toilet and told my wife (again) that I have been hiding my old habit. She gave me the same response she's done time and time again..."I thought you quit awhile ago". I am ready to begin being quit now.

Thanks for the time.
