User Name: Bren
First Name: Bren
Location: IL
Age: 35
Family: Married two kids (7 and 4)
Job: Teacher
Addiction Details: I started smoking at 14 and went with that for a while. At 18 I landed a job unloading trucks 3rd shift. Since I was locked in to the warehouse I couldn't smoke. After half a shift, I noticed someone dipping and started there. I continued to smoke and dip during my time in the army and on through college. In 2001 I quit smoking and dipping. The quit lasted until my boy, now 4, got really sick. As the doctors started using terms like chemo and quoting survival percentages, my stress level went through the roof. One day I caved and that has been it since. I would have short quits (a week here or two weeks there), but for the most part I used pretty regularly. My wife finally had enough, and I realized that a can of Kodiak is not worth losing my family.
User Name: pavetheway
First Name: Mike
Location: Wichita, KS
Age: 36
Family: Married, 3 kiddos
Job: Estimator/Project Manager/Truck Driver/Farmer/Equipment Operator/IT guy
Addiction Details: Started chewing Cope when I began riding bulls in college. Didn't have to be a ninja dipper because the wife honestly didn't really mind (at least that's what she said). Finally decided to quit for ME....and I got to thinking about how much $$ I flushed down the toilet and what I would look like with no jaw.
User Name: MarkOliver
First Name: Mark
Location: Binghamton, NY
Age: 46, very soon.
Family: Married with dogs and cats.
Job: Retired law enforcement after 20 years, 21 days. Spent most of my career in K-9 one way or another. Formed New York Regional Police Canine, LLC. on retirement.
Addiction Details: I was handed a can of Skoal "fine cut" when I was 14, maybe 15 at the latest. From that point on I chewed almost everything in a can and a lot of the leaf chews.
By 18 I came back to Skoal and Cope. I dropped Cope by age 25 or so and stuck with Skoal Wintergreen Longcut until January 20th 2012 at age 45, going on 46.
I QUIT because I haven't spit hardly at all since I was 18. My "gut" said it was time. So many people write that they quit because they were tired of sneaking around to get a fatty etc. etc. I wish that was my FUCKING problem. I mastered having a "fatty" in no matter where I was because I didn't have to spit. I dipped all day, every day, unless I was eating. The good news is my stomach feels a lot better since I quit and I don't think I have any long term issues at this point. At this point I'm hoping I am right. Grow a set and quit before it is to late fence rider's. We all can.
