I started dipping in the late '70s.  I stopped for a couple years in the late '80s and again for a couple years in the late '90s.  I have been nic free since Tues. AM Aug. 11, 2009.  I am tired of sneaking around taking a dip (assuming no one knows).  Losing sleep over health anxieties and realizing that I am betraying myself and those that I love.  I know I am doing this for me, but I also need to do this for my wife and 5 children.  This has been decades of craziness.  I want it to stop.  I need to prove I am stronger than this.

I have been very impressed with the passion and commitment of those on this board.  I am a private person by nature and am a little reluctant to open up to others.  I  appreciate the honesty on this board.  Something that has been lacking in my secret life of nicotine addiction.

Welcome to the site KCF. Sounds like you have been addicted to nicotine for about as long as myself. I have quit many times before sometimes for extended periods of time. The quit has been different this time because everyone knows including my family and friends. I too am a somewhat private person by nature but I have opened up to everyone on this forum and it has made all the difference. In order to make your stick quit you will need to do the same. Quitting as you know is a pain in the ass but is DAMN WELL WORTH IT.

Welcome Greg and congratulations for making the decision to save your life!!!! Just remember, everyone here can relate to what this addiction has done to you. We're all in the same boat. Posting roll is the most important step in the battle, at least for many here. It's about accountability and commitment to being quit. Read as much as possible on KTC. You can do this!!!!
