I came across this site a long time ago when i was just debating on quitting. Now it's time to grow up and give this shit up. I've been dipping since i was 16, I'm 24 now and I go through a can and a half a day. I'm quitting because I'd actually like to keep the teeth in my mouth and not have to hide anything from new people that I meet. Any tips on coping with the haze or recommendations for tobacco free dip? Or should i just stay away from it?
Mtkid - welcome aboard and congrats on taking control of your life again. Lots of stories similar to yours here, some that have stayed quit, others that didn't hold the line for one reason or another. All the resources, support, and guidance that you could possibly want is all here -- dig in, read until your eyes hurt, and drop in for the occasional chat room. All of it will help reinforce your quit, particularly in the first few days when it can be a rough adjustment. Need a diversion? Get a liter container of water and go through at least six of them a day, and keep gum, seeds, fake dip, etc. everywhere where you're accustomed to dipping. When in a panic, reach out to someone in the May 2014 group.
But first thing's first: get yourself in the May 2014 Quit Group ("Project Mayhem") and post roll (
index.php?showtopic=50). This is the foundation of your quit. Your Mayhem brothers have faith that you can keep your word for one day, and that's all we ask -- both of you and ourselves. One Day At A Time -- don't complicate it. Don't worry if you screw it up the first couple times -- it'll become second nature soon enough. Check your inbox.
