Hello All! I am 12 hours into this journey and was sent here by a former user of this site. I am sure that we will hear from him. This I am a 36 year old guy who realized that I have been chewing as long as I have not been chewing. I picked up my first can while in my freshman year of college during fall baseball and have not put it down since. I loose my keys, my phone, my wallet but I always know where my can is. I realized that there is something wrong with that and I need to fix it! I have been chewing a can a day for the past 10 years.
Excited to see you've finally taken the first step man. Only problem is this. I'm not a former user of this site. I post each and everyday in the May 3 Balled Quitters roll. Like I've told you before; this site will see you thru. Follow the rules and you'll be fine. I'm not only just a phone call away...I know where you live...... :pirate:
Post role and repeat.
Embrace your crave and crush it.

I don't see your name on January's roll call list , but it could have been dropped. If you haven't already, you need to get over there, sign your name to that promise list and meet some folks. They will be your life lines. Some of them will become good friends as well.

I have to correct you. Nicotine was never a habit. From the time you popped that first sickening, scattered pinch in your mouth, it was an addiction. You are an addict. Welcome. We know what you're dealing with because we are addicts as well.

I'm one of the ones you mentioned in your intro. Dipped almost as long as you've been alive. Somewhere around 19 years. You know what that means? It means I'm a dumbass. As far as quitting, it's no easier or harder. The way I see it, there are 3 sure facts:

1. I'll always be an addict.
2. I'm 769 days clean as of right now.
3. I've posted roll, so nicotine is not an option today.

I'll be here tomorrow, will you?

Welcome. Go up to the Welcome Center (upper left) and read all the information posted there. It explains how and why we do things around here. This site works. Find your post group and post your pledge not to use nicotine today. Post back on your introduction post anytime and everytime you have any questions or want to journal your quit. You can do this.
Enough is enough. Time to take control back from the nic bitch. My HOF speechGR8WHITEBUFFALO

Day 1 of Quitting New Member New life

Hey Everyone! My name is Zach and I came across this site today trying to kill time in my college class. I am 20 years old and a senior in college getting ready to graduate in May. I grew up around dip as my father had it in everyday all day. After we moved apart I think I started to dip as a way to hold onto him. I started at 16 being a high school baseball player and never looked back. I would say everyday since then I have purchased a Grizzly Mint tin. Living in Long Island they are $5.87 each so you can imagine what an unemployed kid had to go through to keep up with this expensive habit. It quickly turned into something more than a habit. I would wake up dip, after every meal dip, every time driving dip, after every workout dip etc...I would say I average about 8 times a day and this caught up with me in a short time. My whole bottom row of teeth are loose and my gums almost gone. I have a constant pain in my jaw and neck that never seems to go away. Not only did I get all my friends into dipping frequently which I regret I let myself spiral into something I never thought I could get out of. My parents have always had an idea from hearing it from other people but a few years ago I had the white soars in my mouth and the "hairy tongue" and being in high school the cancer rumor quickly spread. This is how they first found out and I kept hiding it until my mother found about 30 spitters under my bed a few months ago. I tried Jakes Mint Chew and every other alternative to try to quit. After coming across this site and actually seeing how many people quit after many more years then me I got the determination to say today is the day. I took my brand new tin and dumped it all out in the street. I have no idea how I am going to get through this being that my life revolves around dip but I know I can do it with all your help. I look forward to getting to know all of you more.
