Well, I was looking through the roll yesterday and saw your name. Saw it again today and had some time to track everything backwards.... and now I'm here.

Your times are going to be all weird for us, but we'll keep an eye out for you (meaning, you better be on roll or we will hunt you down - considering you're down under, we will also take a vacation). If you need anything, we're here - PM me if there's anything I can do. Also - I guessed at your information on the accountability sheet - make sure I didnt goof it up.

You probably already figured all this out, but here's my 'new quitter information blitz' that I made today... I'm still excited about it, so you get it too!
Start here, in the Welcome Center - it will help orient you to what is going on.

If you are wondering how to quit, read this. Our process is simple - post roll, keep your promise, and quit for today. You have to quit for YOU and pay whatever price necessary.

Quit One Day At A Time (ODAAT), and QLF all day long. Visit the site a lot, it will get you through the crap. You have to make this quit about YOUR desire to quit; for me it was my independence followed by about a hundred other reasons. I used this post, this survivor story, and wrote a much less eloquent version of this letter. The basic question is this: Are you man (or woman) enough to quit?

Your spouse/significant other should probably read this. . . just don't let them find out about each other though 'Crazy'

You should literally drink GALLONS of water and will probably want to look at these helps too. Those tricks will help you minimize the withdrawal symptoms. I found these smokeless alternatives helpful to beat the mind games (specifically Hooch/Hooch Spitfire for its consistency and Smokey Mountain for its availability; make your own decision though!). Some quitters are legit hard core and quit with iron will... but I was a baby quitter with hooch and a KTC Chatroom iv drip.

The key is to stay quit. You may have to quit for the next minute, then the next minute, but the trick is to break the quit down and keep it alive.
How to post Roll Call. Post early and remember that it doesn't have to be perfect - the only way to really screw roll is not to be on it.

Stay quit. Post Roll
Paul and Bombero have laid it out simply for you.
Welcome to the real world of quit.

Cheers.
Thanks for the support guys and all the heads up as to where I can best read up on stuff. I have been reading A LOT and it puts my mind at bay a lot of the time thinking about all the weird crap going through ones head during the quit timeline. All the anxiety, sleeplessness, anger, sadness etc etc etc. It just goes on and on and on but what I do find is reading this stuff puts my mind at bay and also helps me to realize that I can do this and that I will be just fine and live a long and healthy life. These thoughts that are in your head right now are just thoughts - if you keep telling yourself that and when they do come up to tell your brain to 'F OFF' with those thoughts then I think you will be better positioned to make a go at this.

That's what I think atleast... Hope that makes sense and others relate to it!

I was a ninja dipper, but I will have a berserker quit - Here's some encouragement

NEVER Ring the Bell! Watch this. It will change your life.

When a crave hits watch this.

"Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind Always."

?Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good. ? ~ Vince Lombardi

Never cured, but quitting like this

Thank you for your service, John.

Don't quit for your family. Do it for yourself. You'll see that a million times on this site because it's true. Get that into your head now.

Spending a lot of time on KTC will help reduce the rage. It really will. We've all been there. Breathe deep, get more snacks/substitutes, exercise more or more intensely.

I've read about a lot of people who had more trouble in their 20s than the teens. I had the same experience. When I got to day 28 - poof! Things really stated to clear up and get easier.

Your day is coming. Until then, one day at a time (ODAAT).

Hi everyone, first let me introduce myself. My name is John, I'm 34, live in Australia (originally from Canada) and have a wife and a young boy (4) and girl (18 mths).

I quit smoking in 2010 before my son was born and was 'clean' for 3 years. At the start of last year I took up dipping (I dipped previously at times when I was a smoker) and it slowly went from when I was at work (military) to when I was at hockey and playing golf to having it at home - In the end it was about a tin of skoal every 2 days. My last day using was 25 May 2014 so I think I am on day 25 right now. I gave it up for my family... I have an epiphany on my way home from my last trip away with work - on the plane home, had a dip in and suddenly got hot flushes and a feeling of unwell and thinking about how I could live with myself it I got a cancer and it was terminal leaving my family.

The first weekend was hell as everyone has eluded to - but I got through that. Since then though I think I have been having anxiety issues and the depression of sometimes thinking about the worst case scenario. It's mostly only momentary but it can hit harder when I go to bed. Sometimes I get great sleeps and sometimes I get 2-3 hours tops and just lay there trying to relax but my brain just will not let me calm down. I don't feel that much anger or anything but still a bit jittery at times.

I saw the doctor here after the first weekend because my work is stressful and after that last trip I was just beat. He gave me some sleeping tablets to help with the first week and sent me home on a week of stress leave (my first time off since Xmas) and I enjoyed it with the family. I still had 'episodes' of strong feelings of getting sick etc but I just want to know they will pass... I keep trying to tell myself all those things (headaches, anxiety, chest feeling tight with the anxiety etc etc) are all just side effects of quitting and they will pass. I try to be healthy, we eat healthy, I still coach hockey and run 2-3 times a week so I think I'm on the right track.

But I read about guys who have dipped for 20+ years and have their symptoms like mine but for a shorter period than me. WTF man? What crappy hand was I dealt with? The doctors over here know nothing about dip because it is illegal to sell it in Australia. I just import it (which is entirely legal as long as you pay the duty) but it means there are absolutely no support networks in Australia. My wife and mother in law found this site and I think this will help a lot... I just want to stop feeling like I do and go back to feeling... well... alive again. I love my family too much to have this drug beat me!

Thanx for allowing my to rant here - And here's to all of those who have come before me and after me that will make it through. I'm in it for the long haul but might need some help along the way from all of you over in North America. My wife has been awesome but I cannot keep just throwing everything at her (after all she is a stay at home mom) - I just need another outlet to help me feel again.
