I travel often but I wouldn't call myself a "vet" - but here are my thoughts. You make posting roll a priority (and it does sound like this is a priority for you) no matter what it takes. If you are staying in a hotel, make sure that it is one with wi-fi or go to a coffee shop or whatever. Whatever it takes to make sure that first thing in the morning you post that roll. Simple as that. Good job with the 23 days - keep it up.

I have to travel to eastern Europe for work tomorrow. I'll be 10+ hours ahead in time and won't be returning until the weekend. I don't want to let my Feb 12 HOFs down with roll call but I'll have no access to cell/3G and sporadic access to wi-fi. Any advice from vets who travel often and encounter the same problems? I'm 23 days in and feeling good.

I used BBQ seeds and sugar free gum. I also exercised like a crazy person and drank a lot of water. Hope that helps some. You have 9 years dipping. I did it for 25. If I could do it, you can also. We are to help. PM me if you ever need any help. Dave

Thanks guys - I quit when I posted this and still haven't caved. You were right - 72 hours was BRUTAL to go through again and I will never do that again. Also are there any support threads that focus on strategies for adults who have ADHD?

I hope you realize that you were sooooo close to being through the physical withdrawal at 52 hours. 1 more stinking day and it was over. By caving, you get to start all over and do those 52 hours plus that day you didn't do. But that's what happens when you "try." Quitting is not a progressive accomplishment. You are or you are aren't. I am. Dipping is not an option for me. NO MATTER WHAT. It's the only way to be successful. Take dipping as an option off the table. NO MATTER WHAT. Are you willing to do that? If so, we can help with anything and everything that may come.

Stuck,

Are you QUIT now? Have you thrown your shit down the toilet? If you have and you are, then welcome. Quit for today, do what you have to stay quit for today. Chew seeds, gum, go exercise, read every single introduction in the forum, go read about Tom and Jenny Kern (each one is an alternative to caving) then decide if you need a dip. Do it all but dont think for a minute that dipping is the answer.

If you are QUIT, if you are ready to declare yourself an addict and are committed to doing what an addict must do to break the cycle of addiction, then welcome to the fight. I, and everyone else will walk with you during fight, but I havent hear you declare yourself ready to fight for yourself. Do that and you are welcome into this brotherhood.

Its your choice!!!!

Welcome, man! The two most important things here are 1) post roll first thing in the morning, this is your word, your promise, not to use today, and 2) quit only today. You can do anything for 24 hours, all you have to do is make it to bedtime. Tomorrow, you decide all over again to quit. Post roll, repeat. I see you posted roll, so you ARE doing this. You've got nic running scared, give her the death blow today.

Welcome Stuck. I'm only 28 days into my quit so I don't have as much advice as the veteran quitters do, however, one thing that helped me was I changed my daily routine. Also, were you using anything (sunflower seeds or the fake stuff) to help with oral fixation? Fifty plus hours you still haven't fully gotten the nic out of your system yet. It usually takes at least 72 hours to fully rid yourself of nic. After that, physical withdrawl usually goes away pretty quick and from there it's a mind game. Just take it one day at a time and make the promise. If not, then take it an hour or even 5 minutes at a time and then build on from there. Just remember the longer you go with out a fix... the better off you will be. POST ROLL... Stay quit... YOU WILL SUCCEED!

First of all, nice job on posting roll. Second, we do not use words like hope and try around here. This site is for committed quitters. All the support in the world is right here, but you have to ask for it and accept it. You post roll for the day, that means you give your word to your quit brothers that YOU WILL NOT use nicotine is any form for the whole day. Your word means nothing if you break that promise. Do not take it lightly. Post in the morning when you wake up, go to bed that night, wake up the next day, and do it again. It's just that simple. The most important piece of advice I can give you is to post roll EVERYDAY. Get involved in your group, make sure they know who you are. The accountability you create will make your quit stronger. Above all else, stay quit.

Gents - first I'd like to thank everyone in this entire brotherhood (and sister?). I tried quitting on Wed and was able to make it for 52 hours cold turkey, then failed Friday night. I came across this site and want to try again. I'm so addicted to dipping I thought the 52 hours was 52 days. I've been dipping since I've been 18 and I'm now 27. Up to this point I went through a tin of Snus at work each day and about 9 tins of Skoal at night each week. My dentist told me I have no gums left in the back of my mouth and I'm getting them grafted Tuesday, so I MUST quit or my teeth will fall out. I read many posts on this site and realized the fog and mental anxiety were common symptoms of early withdrawal, as were the mental triggers.

During my 52 hours I felt like I was Leonardo Dicaprio in Basketball Diaries. I was physically sick, dizzy, couldn't concentrate on work and basically chewed my was through two packs of gum and three bags of seeds. When I finally caved and dipped Friday night I felt like a guilty dog who shit on the carpet right when his master walked in- and I do not feel good at all about my weakness. During my reflection I found this site and hope I can turn things around. With the support here (and the procedure Tuesday) I'm hoping I can knock the nic-bitch down for good.
