There are many reasons this is a problem, but I'll speak to one I know well. When a new guy reads that you use nic gum, and they themselves are struggling with there quit, they see a possible way around chewing while still getting a nic fix! It can weaken a new guys resolve, and lead them back into the nic bitches trap! I fell into that trap in the past and don't want you to think it's ok or a new guy to think it's ok. It is still nicotine and still holds you as a slave. Not to mention prolonging withdrawal. I'm glad you are off it now. Post roll with Sept. Good luck. You can do it!

Can you explain to me how you have been posting roll in August that you have been clean for 20 days while using nicorette for 18 of those days? We are clear about bieng a nicotene free site! Period. I have chewed on and off for at least 15 years. even as I write it, it is hard to accept that it has been that long. I understand that all this time I have been operating under the delusion that I can quit anytime, and that I am too young to worry about it now. But, now I'm 44, and I am fully resolved to quit, forever.

I read the story of Randy, and also of Tom, and I started crying uncontrollably, for them, their families and the thought that one day, that could be me. I have a wonderful girlfriend, 3 brothers, two sisters, nieces, nephews, a mother, stepmother, aunts and uncles. I love them all. For them, for me and for my new brothers and sisters in this community, I quit, now, forever.

Don't worry about forever, that is a really, really long time. Besides, you just have to quit until you die.

Seriously, just worry about quitting today. You can get your arms around a longer time period in a few weeks after you've gotten over the early withdrawals and challenges.

Post roll making your promise not to use nicotine in any form today.
Keep your word because you are a man of integrity.
