pshea69,

You joined in June yet didn't post anything until yesterday. Now you've made 4 posts, all in your intro. Until your name is on Jan 14' Roll Call I can't take you seriously. It smells like this is another one of your stoppages and not the quit. Prove me wrong.

Post Roll: Why? How?
Every day you log into your “Group”, a bunch of guys all quitting together and going through the same suck, fog, cravings, etc. You “Post Roll”; add your name and the number of days quit that you are. This is your promise, a pledge to your quit brothers and sisters, to yourself, and to everyone else here on KTC to not use nicotine in any way, shape, or form, for the next 24 hours. Keep your promise. A man is nothing if his word is no good.

Get Involved:
Read: Introductions and HOF Speeches. Read the banter in other groups. Read the non-dip discussions in the Wilcard section when you want to get away from thoughts of dip. By doing this you will realize that you are not alone in the feeling you are having. You will gain strength through others. And, you will get to know these people on a personal level, which adds accountability.

Send out a few PMs:
Send out a PM to someone in your group, or to someone that posted something that you related to. Offer your phone number. I bet you will get a phone number in return. Store those numbers in your phone and USE THEM in a moment of weakness. Sending a text out has prevented me from caving more than a few times. Sometimes I didn’t even need a response, just taking a few seconds to text was all it took to get me thinking straight again. Other times the response I got was, “you do NOT have permission to cave”, which I took to heart.

Every tool you need to QUIT and remain QUIT is here, for free, but you have to want it. No one can quit for you, but we can offer support whenever you need it.
"Dunno about you HP, but LOOT doesn't like getting assfucked, by anyone....and certainly won't chalk it up to 'shit happens'."

Ok, get to do it it is. Already seeing clearly on day 2.
Weekend of football will be more tempting. But, gonna beat it.
Posting roll is a cornerstone of this site. If you are a man of your word then once you post roll there is nothing that will stand in your way of being quit.

Read the Welcome Center and then go post roll in Jan '14.

Great choice, Pshea! You've gotten great advice already. But I have to throw in my two cents...

Attitude is everything. Your attitude will determine your success. (Notice I didn't say "Your attitude will determine IF you are successfull." You made the decision to quit. You gave your word. And we expect you to keep it.

Look the name of this thread. How about changing it to "Get to do it" instead of "Got to do it." See, quitting is privilege reserved to those who have the guts to do it. You did! So, you GET to go through this hell because YOU MADE A GREAT CHOICE!!!

When you think you might cave, think of all the folks who didn't GET to go through the funk of quitting, but instead dealt with disfiguring jaw/tounge removal, feeding tubes, saying good bye to loved ones, etc. Quitting is cause for celebration each and every day you kick the shit out of the Nic Bitch. We're pumped you're here!!!

Noboby forced you to dip....and nobody is forcing you to quit. This is ALL YOU, brother. And, YOU can do it!!!

I caved out of sheer boredom and that my college boys had some.  They were baseball players, and we were outside working in Maine, blah blah blah.  And it felt good like a legal drug that it is.  I am outside a lot on my land and always a can hidden in the barn.  Keeping away from daughter and wife.
I do know that I can do it, because I did it before.  57 a bit too old to be hitting the can.  this site is great, and will go to it instead of the can.
Hey brother in my opinion you are never too old to do anything. Quit like a fugging beast today!

I have not doubt that you can do this because I am doing it! Remember baseball is just an excuse, I too played baseball, fought in a war, work construction, drive on highways, loved the taste of it...but I am taking my life back now. Life will happen real men are made by how they deal with it.

You seem to get it and have a drive to quit, now let's do this shit!

Welcome, glad you made a great decision and found us here. Pinched seems to have given you a good intro tour. I will only add that you should read everything on this site. Keep reading. Take this quit seriously, be involved on this site, and it will pay dividends. Your quit will be strong.
Glad to have you, now post roll and keep on being quit.

Ok the day is here. I dipped in the mid 80's-93. quit til may of 2010, dipped with the older boys, quit for 3 months back at it again. too much to live for.
pshea,
I am very glad that you found KTC as I am convinced it is the only way to truly QUIT. You stopped for a long time but you didn't quit since you caved and let the Nic Bitch have you again.

You should start posting roll in the Pre-HOF January 2014 group, which is a great group of quitters. You may have quit in October but you are in January because that is when you will hit your HOF or 100th day quit.

I would like to as a couple of questions of you though...
1 - how did you cave?
2 - why did it happen?
3 - what are you planning to do differently this time?

These questions are not for you to tell me specifically but to reflect and be honest with yourself so you can better prepare this time.

I am here to help anytime you want it. I quit with you today.
