Jolly Ranchers work well. You can't bite the things easily so I just leave it in the old dip pocket and they can last an hour.

None of the stuff will stop the withdrawal unfortunately. Your brain has been rewired to expect nicotine on a daily and constant basis. When you shut the bitch off it takes some time for you brain to finally accept your decision. BTW, it really never does but at some point you will hardly notice if at all.

We have awhile before we are there.

Every herbal alternative I've tried (Smokey Mountain, Hooch, Oregon Mint) has been really awful... not sure there is an adequate alternative out there to my liking
I found myself in a similar boat months back. I had no choice but to face reality and accept that in my quest for a perfect facsimile for kodiak or copenhagen, I was really just looking for my nicotine fix. Smokey Mtn and Hooch jacked up my gums just as bad as the real stuff did, so why was I so intent on packing my lip with rotting leaves? Maybe it's time to take the dip down off of its pedestal and regard it for what it truly is: toxic compost. Then ask yourself why anyone would want to put fake toxic compost in their mouth?

You are getting good advice here ^^^. Nicotine created the problem by hijacking your dopamine production. Dopamine is the chemical that drives us to find food, seek out a mate, drink water, etc.. Nicotine causes addiction by taking over the dopamine production, and when nicotine levels start to drop in your body the dopamine causes you to want more. Nicotine creates a problem that only it can abate, but it is a trap. You need to give your brain time to rewire itself, but until then you will have to fight like mad to stay free.

All any of the fake dips, seeds, gum, etc. do is keep your gob busy and distracted while you fight off the craves. Try a wad of fresh mint.

Welcome Eric! You're in the right place if you want to quit. I have found tons of information and great advice from others who are travelling the same road we are. Don't hesitate to PM me if you need another number in your quit toolbelt. Be sure to check out the "Words of Wisdom" section!

Glad you found us!

Did you know that a can of Copenhagen has about the same nicotine as 3 packs of smokes? How many 3 pack a day smokers do you know? I'm relaying this because.... The fake stuff will keep your lip full, but you are an addict. One day at a time, you will learn to harness you addiction. And one day in the not too distant future you are gonna be pissed at the health effects, the lying, and the money that you've wasted on what is really a pretty disgusting and stupid thing. I speak from experience....

This site will save you life. Post roll everydsy first thing. Then keep your word. We will climb mountains to help you. If you need a contact, shoot me an email. But dude, if done weak ass like me can do this, a bad ass like you can. This is the hardest, and best, thing nice ever done for myself. And you will feel the sw way soon. One day at a time.

F Copenhagen. And Kodiak. And nicotine!

Whether or not you like the alternative, it is keeping you from the nicotine. Many here have tried sunflower seeds as you can pack a good load in your cheek and it'll hurt like hell after a few days. Kinda like jamming that dog shit in your lip. One of the others to comment on your thread told you embrace the suck. Heed the advice. It is going to suck and you will feel like shit for a while. You will physically detox first, then the mind fuck starts. Start planning your outs and plans B, C, D, etc. for moments it feels like too much. Get some contacts and live on the chat if needed. We have all been through it so use us as sounding boards.

Probably not. For the most part fake chew is just something to keep your mouth occupied while you fight off a crave. Keep trying different things including gum, seeds, hard candy, tooth picks. I use mentos gum, and when needed mint pouches. Neither are close to Kodiak, they just help kill the crave for me the best.

Welcome Eric26. Good intro. Flannywho here and I am a newbie also. on day 4 after dipping for 21 years. In such a short time I have found the awesome benefits of KTC. The most important I have read about and have taken a part in is roll call. First thing every morning is for you to post roll. Sounds crazy, but the last two mornings I have literally leaped out of bed to get roll posted so I make the pledge and therefore know I have to keep my promise to my November brothers and to everyone at KTC. Good luck and reach out to anyone. I have also found early everyone is willing to help.

Hello everyone, new user here so this is my intro to all of you.

My name is Eric, I'm a married 26 year old white guy from Southwestern Pennsylvania. I'm a big fan of professional wrestling, hockey, baseball, football (mostly because I HAVE to be living in Steeler country) and heavy metal music. I enjoy fishing and working outside around the house or relaxing on the deck with a beer (or several). I work at a landfill as a gas technician.

I started chewing Copenhagen Long Cut a little over 8 years ago and have been an addict ever since. I have tried (albeit not very seriously) to quit several times in the past and failed to go snuff free for longer than a few days.

I want this time to be different. I need this time to be different. I need to quit for my wife, my family, but most importantly for myself. I am committed and I am ready to succeed.

I purchased some sampler cans of Smokey Mountain and Hooch, both of which I received in the mail yesterday. I had my last chew of Copenhagen last evening and told myself that was it.

I'm on Day 1. I've been told already by some very dedicated members here to take it one day at a time, that's what I plan to do.

So let's do this. Looking forward to doing this with all of you and I'll catch yer ass down the road.
Strap in, buckle up, and get your helmet.

It's going to suck for a while. And then it won't.

It's worth the ride, and welcome to the best decision you ever made.
What is your major malfunction?!?!?!?!
