started dipping at 19 in AIT, any one else in the army knows how many people chew in the army...Started with just pouches, then progressively turned into about a can a day (longcut)...all thru AIT i said i would quit just as soon as i got out of there, and ofcourse came home and been dipping a can of redman WG every day since, none of my buddies around here in NYC suburbs dip and ive been saying im gonna quit for months...most ive ever gone is a few hours. I decided to quit again this past weekend, i weened off my last can slowly and finished it off saturday. Sunday i gave in and chewed a peice of 4mg nic gum in the afternoon...Found this site sunday night and decided im not even gonna use the gum anymore and ive been nic free for 48 hours now...monday was pretty brutal, and i definitley experienced that "dizzy fog" and chomped away on flavored toothpicks and drank an ocean of water and probably gained 5 pounds eating all day. Today really hasnt been too bad honestly, i have only been dipping for about a year and a half but i dont see my self ever quitting til its too late if i dont do it now.
You are making a great decision to quit. You need to spend time reading everything you can on this site. I would suggest that you get some seeds, fake dip, candy, gum... drink lots of water and get exercise. You will get past the physical in about 3-4 days. Then it's the mental. Can you face your cravings? They will hit a lot in the early days, then it gets better.
Always have a plan, and always keep your word. If you post up everyday in the morning and keep your word, the days will add up and the nic bitch will lose.
Never can you have another dip. Never can you have "just one more". If you ever decide to just quit when I'm 25, or 30, first kid is born, or married, or elected president.... you won't ever hit those milestones. You will turn into some dumb ass dipper and look back 30 years going - was I that stupid?
You can do this. You are smart, you are Army, you've made the first step.
PM me if I can help. I'm an ex-dipper of 30 years. I hit the 100 day mark today.
Post up in Dec and be a quitter!
