I'm right there w/ you Ryan. I quit with you. I'm on day three as well, and have been ripping through sunflower seeds. I was reading some other stuff on the site and as far as the weight gain is concerned, pick up some carrots and some seeds. They've worked so far, and I'm not jamming a bunch of unhealthy crap down my throat. I'm also gonna pick up some jerkey and see if that helps. I dipped Cope Long Cut for 14 years, so I know how you feel.

Welcome to the grind Ryan. Just thought I'd point out that you've been stupid for the last 17 years for putting that stuff in your mouth. I was an idiot for about 15 years! Everyday we kick the bitch to the curb makes us one day smarter. Keep up the fight man.

Salts,

Soon for you the nicotine will be out of your system--that's great!

The Next Phase, you will begin working through the mental triggers associated with dipping. I am not going to sugar coat the shit---IT SUCKS!

However, here is the good news---you only have to do this ONE DAY AT A TIME. Every day you keep your promise to not use is another day closer to freedom.

Eventually, you will notice something strange happen-----one day, you will go all day without a dip trigger or crave or thought about nicotine and you will rejoice because you just saw the light of freedom.

However, don't get ahead of yourself---put your nose to the grind stone and do the today's quitting ONLY. Freedom is built One Day at a Time!

You got this--man up now

Ryan, the poison is out of you, true, but it's like removing a bullet...the wound still has to heal. You've forced your neurotransmitters for years to function while constantly using nicotine. Now you've taken it away, and the nerves are going to have to re-learn the right balance of chemicals, the way they used to do before you first started dipping.

They will learn. Allow your body the time to adjust. It will get better soon.

I thought something magical would happen when the nic was gone...nope. The first few days were a blur. I really don't remember them...it was literaly just a fog. Then, on Day 9, I found this site. I got 9 days into my quit through sheer determination, but this site taught me how to quit...one day at a time.

Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next month or year. Just focus on this five minutes...today. We'll deal with the future when it gets here. But for now, all you can do is give your word that you will not have any nicotine.

Simple, straight to the point....no pills, no patches, no bullshit. Just post roll to give your word, then make damn sure you keep your word. Anybody can go a day, right? Then repeat.

The sleeping will come back...but so will the Nic Bitch, with different tactics. Dip dreams, depression, restlessness, triggers, etc. She'll even try to get you to rationalize "just one" after you are out of the fog. Happens to everyone.

Stay on this site, post roll, read the Kern Family Story, visit live chat. Failure is not an option. Give your word and keep it. Stay strong brother.

Day 3 can be different for everyone. Day 3 for me was a walk in the park but for others it may be hell still.

Let me put it to you this way. You are close to being done with the worst of the physical symptoms. But it will take some more time to start feeling like you should.

Welcome, Ryan. On day 3, the nicotine is theoretically out of your system, but that will likely only lessen the physical symptoms of withdrawal. For me, the mental stuff lasted quite a while longer. I'm not trying to scare you off, just being up front about it. Your brain has been loaded with this stuff for 7 years. Surely you don't expect it to completely regain control in 3 days. Drink plenty of water, get some excercise, and that should help a little bit. You'll be dealing with side effects (some good, some bad) for quite a while, but it will get easier every day. Get familiar with this site, get to know your quit brothers (and sister) and get some contact numbers. You will need all of it.

Hang in there, bro... and reach out via a PM or post if you need help.

Day 3, Does the Haze go away & when?
« on: September 21, 2011, 02:28:00 PM »
Hello, My name is Ryan McPike, I am 33 and have been chewing Cope Long Cut for the last decade and k-bear for the 1st 7 years I chewed. I do not burn through a lot of cans a week, but I also spend 18-20 hours a day with a dip in. My girlfriend told me about this site, I think it is the only way I will be successful. I braced myself and prepared for my quit day which was Monday 9-19-11, for over two weeks. Besides feeling ridiculously stupid I am doing better then I anticipated. I am hoping that after day 3 the nic is out of my system. Will I start to get smarter once it's out? My employees are looking at me like I am an idiot. I have been using some hooch as an alternative to help fight cravings. I also think I am going to get pretty fat, man I eat a lot if I don't have a chew in. Just wanted to introduce myself to the community, any and all advice is welcome, cuz I know I am not doing this alone. Thanks for your help and I am going to beat this bitch once and for all.
