thanks, i guess i say try and what not cause for the past few days ill have such bad craves at work dealing with all the BS policy's and the retards i work with its damn near impossible... im in the military, and have been dipping for about 4 years and i have been in for 5 years  so if there are any other members on here that know what im dealing with would be great.
You've never quit before. You may have taken a couple breaks, but you never quit. You also didn't relapse. Your addiction won. This can all be changed. Forget everything you thought was correct about quitting, because it has failed you in the past. I was the same way.

There are lots of military folks on here. I'm not sure if that 's what you're looking for or not. But, most quitters here know what you're dealing with. I believe it's old NOLAQ that always says "there ain't no special butterflies. We all must suffer through the withdrawals.......". Turns out that he is ex-military, but his point is that every single person has stress in their life. Nicotine will not change that. Nicotine will not make it better.

I made the above statements to basically point out that being successful at quitting requires the correct mindset. Nicotine fixes nothing. It only compounds the problems caused by bad situations. Life is full of wins and losses, but I can guarantee one thing........ at the end of this day I will have at least one mark in the "WIN" column. No nicotine today.

thanks i dont know much about this site or forum still trying to figure everything out and im not good with understanding everything on the computer..... and yes i do know about alcohol and nicotine... i have quit before for about a month cold turkey but i relapse... trying to see if i can make it all the way threw this time.... i have noticed the craves are 10 times worse this time than last, with added stress at work this time...
Hey Rusty, welcome to the site. Let's get a couple things straight. First off, we don't "TRY" to quit here, we "DO". We quit one day a time. So as far as making it "all the way thru this time", try to make your focus here and now. Make a promise to your group by posting role, and then make it all the way through each day without using. Dont think about forever right now, just think about today. Quit for Today!!! that is the key to making it "through". Read that welcome link as Sir Derek suggests.

There is a wealth of knowledge available on this site. Read all you can. The more you know about your addiction the better equipped you will be in fighting it.

Reach out to your fellow quitters, it is important to make a few connections here. The accountability is absolutely necessary for success.

Regarding your intro thread, many people use it as kind of a journal of their quit. I would post a little more about yourself. Whats your story? The more people know the better they can respond to you and help you.

Well Rusty - welcome to the neighborhood. This ain't the goverment so tell your story here, get those of us who want to reason to reach out to you for help.

Also get out there to the ally and post up for the day index.php?showtopic=7782 as you will find yourself in the May13 quit group.

But watch the alcohol as it has damaged....no destroyed quite a few quits in its day.
