Thanks everyone. This is very encouraging. Its good to see that others know what I'm feeling too. Thanks. One day at a time. No rush.

I've quit dipping several times in my life. The last time I quit was in Iraq 2008. I went cold turkey and maintained for about 8 months. I picked it up again in Sep 2008. Now in Afghanistan this year I am committed to quitting. I've got 2 sons back home and want to be around forever for them. I get frustrated being addicted to something that controls my mood. I have a stressful job but no reason I can't do this. I look forward to using this site to get through it.
jones,

Great job on making the best decision of your life. Now I know you said you've "quit" before, but you have never quit like this. This is true freedom and you will never have "to quit" again because you will "be quit". This is a huge difference in mindset we have here.

You also did a great job posting roll today. This is what we do here - we post every day, our word as our promise that we won't use nicotine in any shape or form, and we keep our word. We post daily because quitting for a day works.

You may find over the next 3 days that you need to quit minute by minute. The Suck is what you're going through. You're healing. Your body and brain are screaming at you to give it what it wants - nicotine (aka death in a can). Tell them no. Never forget how awful you feel so you'll never want to go through it again.

Get some numbers of fellow quitters. They will help you if you are having trouble. They will post roll for you if you text them. You want mine? PM me and it is yours.

Stay safe where you are, and stay quit. We're all here to help you.

Quit on.

Jones - CONGRATULATIONS. It is an honor to be In The Quit with you! thank you for your service.
Yep, just do the thing. It's simple. Don't dip today.
All the other stuff - the "what's happening with my body?" "I'm freaking out" "this nervousness/ pain/ craving/ irritability/ fog is too much" "this is a stressful time, I can quit again later" "I'm a piece of shit, what difference does it make, I'll just go back" messages? they are all lies our addictions tell us - aka the Nic Bitch - in order to keep us stuck and "safe" in what we've done all along.
screw her. she's just doing what she can because it's what she knows. her job, like all parasites, is to feed the host til the host dies.
real change is simple. don't dip today.
i took my Last Dip Ever late Wednesday night, december 28. i am free. this group is giving me hope and strength. i was always alone before - me and my guilt / shame and addiction ... and a 7-11 just down the street with plenty of cancer-in-a-can. now i have brothers and sisters who will call me out!
