You are doing great Grizzle. Keep close to the herd and keep your focus. The lion gets the ones who stray away from the herd.

Thanks for the kind words. I feel great today. I hope it will last, but the serious fog has now lifted and I can see and think relatively normal. It has been 2 weeks since my last dip and 11 days since I used nicotine gum. Hoping that I don't take an easier day of quit for granted and let my guard down. Must stay focused!
It will come and go in waves.. more frequently and bigger in the first 30 days of the quit, then less often and a little more tolerable each time. The big thing is to be prepared. Like Boyscout serious shit.

Next time in Wallyworld? Take a 20 dollar bill out and buy 4 packs of gum, 3 cans of fake, 2 bags of seeds, maybe a bag of hard candy... these are all tools. You don't have to use them all right away, but the next time that big crave hits, this stuff will be there, not 40 minutes away.

Tools to win. Be prepared.
Great advice brother!

Today my mouth is so sore on the site that I usually dipped. It's like I chewed 2 tins today, but only had one Smokey.

I couldn't take it last night. On my way home from work all I could think of was throwing in a fat dip. The only place that sells Smokey Mountain is Walmart in my area, which is 40 minutes from my work and 5 from my house. I did pass up all of the gas stations on the way and waited in line for 10 min at Wally to get it, instead of the real deal. It worked and got me through the craving. Another day of freedom.
Congratulations on your win! 'oh yeah'

Smokey Mountain and Bacc-Off have definitely saved my ass a few times. I still keep a can of Smokey Mountain in my truck for emergencies. But, I rarely need it any more.

Freedom, indeed!

Congrats on making the decision to quit.

The nicotine should be out of your system by now. But, that doesn't mean you are out of the woods yet. The mental battle is just beginning. The first two weeks were pretty rough for me, but by the time I started the fourth week things were getting noticeably better. Everybody is different, but we are all similar.

My advice is to get plenty of exercise, 3 strong meals a day, and drink a lot of water. Seeds, mint snuff, gum or whatever it takes that does not contain nicotine.

Good luck. I promise you it gets better than what you are going through right now. Hang in there. If I can do it after 35 years of chew and cigars, you can do it too. I am on Day 95 today and I feel better than I have felt in years.

This morning was tough. I put some meat in the smoker last night and woke up to check it. All I could think about was dip. Nobody awake to stop me from running to the store. So, I posted roll in these wee hours of the morn instead. Read some stuff and am happy to be quit. Good luck today quitters. If I can do it today, so can you.

Welcome Grizzle, there are many of us here from Minnesota, myself included. I chewed for 18 years, I have been where you are just 435 short days ago. When you feel like you are down to the last straw, come on here. Read what others are going through with you.

If that doesn't do it, go outside and put some April snow down your pants. That will move your focus quick. 'winker'

You can do this. I know because you are here, and you want this. The question is, how bad?

I will send you a PM, upper right corner (Inbox).

Welcome. Embrace the suck. It means you're winning.

Seriously, it will get better - I just can't tell you when, as it varies for everyone.

Keep the promise you made today, make another promise tomorrow, keep it and repeat.

It's simple, but hard as hell. Be we all stand as a testament that quitting is possible.

Proud to quit with you.

Day 5 - 14 years of this
« on: April 10, 2018, 04:27:00 PM »
Grizzle from Minnesota. I have been dipping for 14 years now and have never really given a real effort to quit. I never really even asked myself if I could.

It is way harder than I thought it was going to be. The fog sucks so bad!! Anyway, today I am really jones'n for a dip. I quit today, on the hardest day yet of my quit.
