Hey -

You were on the patch AND gum...I'm wondering if your shakes had more to do with getting TOO MUCH nicotine. That happens. How much gum were you using while you are on the patch? Because if it had to do with too much nic in your system, then your shaking may subside soon. Remember, nicotine acts as a stimulant - so it could have that effect if you overdid it.

Also RDB also hits on a very good point. Did you know that when you had nicotine in your body, it was metabolizing caffeine twice as fast? So you could effectively drink twice as much caffeine as someone without nicotine in their body and feel the same. So you have to be VERY careful with caffeine early on in your quit.

Lastly, quitting is just stressful. It is. Your brain has been fooled to believe you NEED it like you need food. It is going to take some time to get your brain rewired correctly. But here is the thing. If you give up now - then you are either accepting a lifetime of nicotine and tobacco and all of the horrible carcinogens in your body (you don't want that - I know you don't) - or you are just going to have to face it all again later. Just BE FREE OF THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL. Stick with October 2017 and we'll be there with you to get through this.

PM me for anything.

Just like the drunk drying out or the heroin addict getting clean. It sucks until it doesn't. There is no sugar coating it.

What you can do is drink lots of water. Exercise/run - stay active.

Cut your normal caffeine intake in at least half, and eliminate alcohol.

Check into this site as often as you can. Read, read, read.

Collect digits, and call or text somebody. I'm sending my digits via PM right now.

Most of all - refuse to cave. Refuse to be nicotine's bitch. Refuse to be a slave to a dirty, rotten weed.

When all else fails, slam your nuts in a desk drawer - that'll take your mind off dip.

Hey, guys, I know this is a nic free page. the VA had me on both the patch and the gum and every day seemed harder than the last one. so as of today, i have decided to just stop using all of it. this is by far been the worse 15 days of my life. I haven't been able to stop shaking at all. I pretty much shake from the moment I wake up until I fall asleep. I was chewing about a can and a half to two cans a day. I work from home and I can't really seem to not want to dip as soon as something goes wrong. i am really looking for advice in the shaking area any would be good.
I feel you, man. I was a 2 can a day guy myself. 25 years of it.

Here's the thing... nicotine has fucked you up. Physically and mentally. I won't sugarcoat it or give you a coddle... it's withdrawal. Plain and simple. You have to go through it AND... it's gonna suck. Big huge balls of suck.

However... 3 days is all it takes for that shit to be gone from your body. You've done one day so, let's do another. This site is your saving grace... we are your people. We know exactly how this shit works. You need... NEED... to get involved with a Quit group. These cats are going through what you're going through and you won't believe how much that helps, bro.

You're not alone.

You can do this.

Like I said... I chewed like a fiend. 2 cans a day easy. Today, because of this place and owning my decision to Quit... I'm 1,548 days clean.

You can do this.
Embrace the suck. This is the last time you will go through it. It is a reminder of the stupid damage we caused our bodies with out addiction.

Pound the water. Flush it out of your system.
Thirty-three years, two cans a day, 194 days clean  free. Listen to these two... and get into the October quit group so you don't have to go through it alone.

There are no circumstances in which using nicotine will improve the outcome.

My journey. The best part it is not over yet.
