Joe,

Smart decision, and what a story!

I've done pretty similar to you 16/36=20 yrs, and quit for about 20 days now. It'll be a ride for a couple days but sticking this out will be the smartest thing you do all year.

Welcome to the site. Posting helps me a lot. Keep coming back it'll help you too!

Ok started dipping copenhagen when i was 16/17 i am now 36.  I have had the opportunity to quit easily many of times.  I have lived in south america and asia for the past 5 years.  I would pay $15.00 a can in ecuador for copenhagen.  Crazy i know, im sure you really do understand.  I made it to day 4 in mid october and started again of course 1 jan.  My motivation and maybe for some of you.  My mom just recently died , 9 oct 07 of tounge cancer.  She smoked about 1-2 packs per day.  I was able to quit right after her death but the stress of the situation was too much and started again but knowing i had a plan that 1 jan i would stop.  So here i am at day 3 not doing too bad.  Gum, patch, seeds.  I smoked about a pack a day also.  So i think it will take me about 4 days to get everything out of my system.  I was chewing on average 2 cans cope/day and a pack of smokes.  I told everyone i was quitting, my co worker dips doesnt really bother me.  He said he would quit also he lasted 5 hours, just gives me motivation to stay strong and not do this stupid cope any more.  just wanted to introduce my self and sure i will be hanging here a lot.

Welcome jpine!
You are very smart and intelligent for deciding to quit! Probaly one of the best choices you'll ever make, the choice of LIFE instead of death.
I am quit now for 116 days and could have never done it without this site.
Go over to April 2008 group and sign your name on roll call as your promise to everyone on here you will not dip today. Do this every day. The accountbility on here has saved my life. I never met anyone on here but I feel a loyalty towards them. Get past the first few days of your quit and it will get way better. It won't be over but the first days are the worst. Read everything on this site. In fact, read it over 3 times right in a row. It will make a difference!
....and we'll see you in the April 2008 group
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
