Matt:

Keep up the fight, man. I'm on day 5 right now and can tell you that it gets a bit easier after the first 2-3 days. I was controlled by that stuff 21 years and these last 5 are probably the longest stretch I've had without out. I've tried to quit many times and always failed. With the use of this site in only the last couple of days I can tell you that I honestly and truly feel like I'm gonna kick this shit - and you can too! Keep up the good work and remember, that little fucker in your head telling you that you need a dip is a monster and with strength and will power you can toss him aside. Not easy but 100% doable.

Hey Matt, welcome to the site. You've made the correct choice by coming here. I'm on day 8 and had my first dip dream last night... I was at work and all the sudden I felt this big wad in my mouth; what a nightmare! I thought to myself: shit now i've gotta tell the guys online, but thank god I woke up! Just get through today, I'm with you.

Hey Matt, welcome! When in doubt, read everything on this website. Read read read, there is SO much good stuff. This website is an invaluable resource. Also we quit here one day at a time. That means nobody is asking you to quit forever. That promise means nothing anyway coming from you or me. All we ask is that you make it to bedtime tonight, that's all. Tomorrow wake up post roll and repeat. No biggie. I'm glad to be quit with you today, don't ever forget what you're going through right now! You only have to do this once.

drink plenty of water, it will help with the headaches. I also found keeping surgar arond helped with the mood swing.(warning I put on 20 lbs by day 50) I am now back to my dropdead sexy weight. Make the commitment that no matter what it takes...It will get so much better, that is a promise!

Welcome bud,

I am on Day 6 myself and it has been getting easier not to say its easy but getting better. There will be certain things that cause monster craves and you will have dive into your bag of tricks(IE seeds, gum, fake stuff) As for how to join a group if you haven't already figured it out:

Go to the main page in the far left column there is a section labeled quit groups click on it.
Then find the November 2011 group click on it
Once you get in there you will see all the people posting roll
Click on the quote button on the most recent post
scroll down to where you see all the comments and press CTL A (everything is highlighted)
While highlighted press CTL X (Cut and paste is what you are doing)
Press CTL V in the top box and insert your user name day you are on and any other comments you may have. The top portion is for new quitters and the bottom is for supporters so make sure you type your comments on the top.

Hope this helps and welcome to the fight brother.

Welcome Matt!

Here is some advice that will help you:

#1 Post roll everyday. This is the key to the success of this web site. Give your word that you will not use for that day and then repeat every morning. Be a man of honor! Post roll in November they are your quit group.

#2 Use this site by reading everything (old posts and new posts) several times---an educated quitter is a sucessful quitter.

#3 In addition to exchanging numbers with fellow quitter have some off site support as well. I have my wife, a good friend and my doctor as my offsite support system. Let everyone know about your quit---everyone! I have three small boys and even they know about my quit and support it. I have them hating tobacco.

#4 You are an ADDICT (learn this and accept it).

#5 Make up your mind that you are done---don't romance the cancerous shit turd you have been placing in your lip----look at the cancer picks and read the cancer stories. One of my main motivations is the thought that I will not be around to watch my three boys become men. I will not let that happen.

#6 Do two things---excercise and pay attention to your physical health and help new quitters quit by encouraging them. These two things will help you feel better physically and emotionally.

Man up and accept your new freedom--One Day at a time

Pm me if you need anything!!!!!

Matt,

Congradulations on your quit. Tomorrow will be day seven for myself, and this site has really helped me out. To join a quit group, you should join Novembers. Tomorrow morning when you first wake up, post roll call, promising your fellow quiters that you will stay quit for the day.

PM me if you need anything (I am also a fellow clevelander)!

day one
« on: July 31, 2011, 01:15:00 AM »
Hello all,

Today is day one. I'm anxious but ready for whats coming. I dumped the two cans of shit i had and am going to pick up some fake stuff tom. , I've been dipping for 16 years. Was a copenhagen chewer but switched to grizzly for half the cost. I havent been enjoying my dips for the past couple months. My gums hurt and bleed, i hate the headaches when i cant put a fatty in at work. I'm pissed at being a slave to this junk, the money, the risk, fuck it. Well anyway Im in Cleveland, Oh love to hunt fish and golf. I've got three young boys and a little girl coming next month and the best wife a man could have. I've got a lot to quit for but i'm doing it for myself this time. My head already hurts and i feel short tempered. Tylenol did jack shit for this throbbing in the back of my head. Well thanks for listning and letting me vent. Could someone tell me how to join a quit group? Thanks,
Matt Tiller
