Quitters, I want to encourage all of you especially you folks who are having a tough time and thinking about caving. A good friend of mine was recently diagnosed with mouth cancer. His name is David.  He has been a smoker most of his life. I got to see him yesterday and his tongue so swollen that he can barely talk. He is in excruciating pain. David goes in tomorrow to have all of his bottom teeth removed. He gets to recover from the surgery over Thanksgiving. The week after Thanksgiving he goes back in to have his entire tongue removed. David will have to be fed through a tube from that day forward. He will also have to learn sign language to communicate. Look, we all know that cancer is bad but, it really hit home for me seeing my friend David like that. Seeing him also made me so incredibly thankful that I found this site and quit dipping! Its simply not worth it!! Stay quit my friends. And if any of you need help reach out! We will help you, I will do my best to help you!

I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Tough news!
We will also pray for David and his family and friends.

Where to start??? First off you must be DETERMINED to quit. There is no Half assing here! You will find that we have ALL been where you are now. You will also find that ANY ONE of us will gladly help you any way we can. We will not hold your hand and blow in your ear. If you are the sensative type that gets his feelings hurt easy, this may not be the place for you my friend.

If on the other hand, you are sincere and your word as a man means something to you you have found a new home brother. I encourage you to stop TRYING to quit by cutting back (we all did that too...it doesnt work) Instead, consider just simply quitting. Decide RIGHT NOW to be quit and NEVER put that shit back in your face again. It really is that simple. I also encourage you to educate yourself by READING everything on the site.

I hope to see you in the HOF.

I'm new here
« on: November 10, 2010, 01:00:00 AM »
Well I'm making progress. I'm down from 1.5 cans of grizzly wintergreen a day to may 2 or 3 small pinches a day. Started quitting Saturday nov 6th. Ive tried and failed to quit too many times to count. I'm glad I ran across this site. I'm sick of this crap in my mouth. But I am also sick from the lack of nicotine, and not having that pinch in my mouth. I need help. None of my friends really understand what I am going through. They don't dip. On the other hand I just got a new bike and when I ride I can't dip so that helps. I live near Houston and would like a group to ride with, if anyone knows of one that would be great. It really helps take my mind off of it. Thanks y'all
