"A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion."

A Quit Plan: Do you have one?

CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit.
After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco. SportDad 1/13/05

Welcome to the site. Keep your eye on the prize. There are going to be tough days, hours, minutes, but if you read and learn from the site, get involved and establish relationships, you will have the tools to fight through the hard times. Post roll and promise not to dip EVERY day.

Come here to vent and be angry, sparing your wife and daughter.

PS. The fog was a real bitch for me. It had me wondering if that was what life without dip was like. Glad to say that it is not, and the fog will go away.

I spit that dip out right then and threw everything away ...
The only way you can throw everything away is to choose that nicotine is more important than your health, family and freedom.

Congrats on taking a huge first step.

I had long been wanting to quit, and being a Christian, I prayed twice to God "I really want to quit. Just give me the tools, because I don't have them." I had tried once before, but I didn't really WANT to quit. This time, I was sincere about my desire and my mind was ready, so I think that has made this time a lot better. I found this site on Sat 3/13 and thought "Ok, I'll finish this one can by tomorrow(Sunday) and start on Monday." Sunday came and I sat at home with a nice plug in my lip, feeling good, and then I read the Kern story and I literally gasped. I couldn't help but think of my beautiful wife asleep on the couch and the joy of my life, my daughter, asleep in her bed and I literally imagined them being without me. I spit that dip out right then and threw everything away and went and told my wife "I'm quitting" and all I've been doing over the past 4 days is reading everything I could. That alone has helped TONS. So, here I am, 2 days in and loving life. I did have the FOG, in fact, its still hanging around(rather odd experience too), but as far as cravings go, my cravings are more situational(what I do when I dip) rather than chemical...but those are still there.
I look forward to meeting those in the community, and my quit group(when I get one) and I want to especially thank Chewie for getting me all set up.

Whew that was long.
