Why are you motivated for this quit, Chris?

Hi all,

I am 37 years old and I have been dipping for about 17 years. Mostly Cope over the years. I quit once before about 7 years ago...that lasted for a year. I was not properly motivated for it at the time.
I have now been "quit" for about 6 days. When I quit before I did not have that hard of a time from withdrawal symptoms...this time...it is CRAZY BAD! I have been Dizzy, blurry vision, complete lack of attention span, unable to focus on anything, on edge and really anxious/nervous. They have faded some already. (although I am waking up in the middle of the nite now, for no reason) Symptoms were at their peak on day 3-4 I think.
One thing that seems really strange is that my Blood Pressure seems to be slightly higher this week since I have quit. I know it will go down over time after quitting, but I am a little worried that is has recently gone up first.

Anyway, glad to be here and on the path...

Cheers,
Chris
Welcome Chris! Glad to have another brother on the journey with us.

Keep an eye on your blood pressure. It "SHOULD" go down. Mine did, but it took almost a month. I don't know what you're snacking on in place of nic, but that may have something to do with it. My snakcs were lots of candy and hell, any food I could fry and eat.

It could also simply be the stress of quitting is causing it to be a little high. Just keep checking it. Especially first thing in the morning.

I've cut my caffiene in half and cut out all salt for the last few days. That has made a big difference in my BP lately.

Congrats on your quit Chris. There are plenty of great documents to read on the home page (if you haven't seen them already).

Either way, the old timers will be pointing them out from time to time to remind you of your upcoming milestones and challenges. They can spot the pitfalls and traps like nobody's business. Trust these folks.

Keep your eye on the objective, and keep your commitment. Your Quit Group brothers (and the guys from Groups past) will give you so much damn support, it will blow your mind.

Good luck, and stay quit. Feel free to ask for help any time.

Chris-
Good work on your quit thus far. Withdrawl can certainly be a bitch. By day 6 you should no longer be physically addicted, the battle has swithced to psychological. That's where we come in. Get to know some of the guys in your quit group and I highly recomend you get some phone numbers(which any quitter will willingly give you) so you can call them if faced with a moment of weakness. Post roll daily, stay close to this site and you'll be in good shape. You can do this!

There's nothing nicotine has to offer that I need. Never has been, never will be.
