I don't think their is a good time to quit. I quit yesterday so that I could get what I hope is the worst of the "fog" over with before Monday rolls around. I was worthless at work today and hope it's better by Monday. Good Luck! 'zombie'

Oh, boy. During my time of enlistment, I encouraged dipping. To us, it was more than a fix. It was a social habit. An excuse we used that we thought kept us sane. Made us regular for those MRE meals. :)

My name is Ray. I am a student in the local EMT program. I am a volunteer Firefighter until I become licensed. I am a Marine. I am married with one boy and one on the way.

HELLO!

I am glad I found this place. I want to quit dipping. Any time I have to throw in a hog, I do. I mostly find excuses to dip. Usually after a meal, as soon as I get into the car, when I drink, when I don't drink, during a test, before a test, after a test, before working out, after working out, etc. Maybe sort of the "usual" dip schedule as many.

Why do I want to quit?
I feel the effects. I feel more sluggish than I have ever been. I feel that I can be more efficient if I just stopped. It's too damned hard. Too many excuses I find to dip.

When should I start? I think for the last three months, everytime I buy a can, I tell myself, "Last can, Ray." But something happens and I just give and whimp out, pack a pinch, and lodge that bad boy in there. My main excuse now is habits. I fear that with all the symptoms that may come, I should wait until after my licensing exam. I don't want to break "study" habits.

Anyways, lots to be said. This is where I'm at.
Embarrassing to ask...sorry. But where the heck do I start and when?!
If you want to quit...do it.

That's our secret.

Nobody is forcing you to buy the stuff. Nobody is holding you down and pushing it into your lip. That's all on you bud.

Take control of this and be ready for battle. First off, post roll (which is your battle cry). Tell everybody (including yourself) that you are quit. Next, take cover and be prepared for a battle. You'll have a few days of pure hell, but you'll get through it. It's temporary (especially when you compare it to how many days you have used).

It may sound like a lot, but the secret is to take it one day, one hour, one minute...hell, ONE FUCKING MOMENT AT A TIME.

I will stand beside you in this battle, and so will everybody else on this site. But you got to be quit and be willing to do anything to stay quit!

You in, or you just want to continue "wanting" this?
If your waiting on fireworks to go off because you want to quit then i can send you a tape of Disney fireworks. Bought it when the kids were young.

Like waste stated,, its up to you. Right now the poison is making the decisions. You can want all day long, but we quit here. Wanting is ok when your fishing, playing lotto, or after a super model.

I would love to quit with you today, what's it going to be?
I'm with Srans and these other bad ass, experienced quitters. We kinda know what this shit takes. You are a Marine? Good, that is good experience for the kind of guts its going to take to do this.

There ain't no pansies in here talking about trying. This is the REAL FUCKING DEAL. If you think you can rationalize your quit date because you might have something better to do - Then brother, you need to listen the fuck up.

If you are still listening, then welcome. Get your high speed ass in here and quit. Now. This is the time. Not tomorrow. Not when your test dates are right. Figure out a way to work this quit into your really busy schedule - I did. I don't know you from Adam, but I have a wife, two kids, a career, and a whole bunch of other uninteresting shit to do and I had to figure this out as well. Just like every other swinging dick here. I know some guys in here who quit when they lost their job while supporting a family. I know some guys in here who had their family walk the FUCK out on them while they were deep into this quit. We are all busy. The only time to quit is now. It doesn't get any better.

Because here is another bit of advice. Take a good look at the cancer pics on the website. I'll bet my ass that cancer doesn't pick and chose the best dates to hit. I can promise you that when cancer decides to hit you, it ain't going to be when you have a few extra days off. While you are deciding when the right time to quit is, there is some serious shit gaining on you.

Those of us here are fairly hard core about this quit. I'm 80 days in and just now starting to voice my feelings about nic. I hate it.

So, you still want to quit? You still want to listen to dickweeds like me? Then follow this advice:

Give us your word, as a man, every damn day starting today that you are quit.
If you have any dip ANYWHERE you are stashing it, shit can it now.
Do whatever you have to do to stay quit - second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.
Repeat every day as you post roll in the morning.

One other thing... We have all walked in your shoes before. We have kids that we love and think about. We have study schedules. We have work schedules. We are all busy. But we care immensely about a bunch of brothers who are fighting the same common enemy as us. Strength in numbers. You give me your word, I will give you mine.

Brother - I quit with you right now, today. And I will quit with you tomorrow.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.
