Chrshell,

I understand where you are at. I was in that same mindset for 15 years. After years of dipping and spitting it feels so normal. I know some on here will disagree or argue this point but I like the taste of Copenhagen Straight.

The day after I lost a friend from cancer from chewing I realized it was not for me. I was scared to death. I tried quitting 18 months earlier for my girlfriend and it was a disaster. Almost lost my girlfriend and my job. I had tried quitting on my own. My girlfriend didn't understand at that time what I was going through and didn't know how to help. I fond this site and realized this is what I was missing. A support network of fellow quitters that had been in those dark and lonely first days of withdrawal.

Quitting is a wild and scary ride. You don't have to do it alone. As you can tell people here want to help you quit. I found out about Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff on this site. Their straight snuff tastes just like Copenhagen and is nic free and helps me get through tough cravings.

Make the decision to Quit. Post roll and make the promise to yourself and this brotherhood that you will not use nicotine. This is the cost of the best group of quitters who will help you when you can make the choice of Quit.

I quit today. Will you quit with me?

Chrshell,

Listen dude, everybody here probably loved putting in a chew and singing along with Chris LaDeaux but the fact that you're here on Quit site tells me you want to throw that bitch in the trash and get on with your life. So when the guy in the mirror decides to do so, we will all still be here. If you need help, get on here and asked questions. Prepare to quit. No one is going to hold a gun to your head and make you. Man up and make a decision. Good Luck to brother!

Blah, blah, blah - until you show up on a roll call here chrshell you are just another wannabe quitter. I've only been here four weeks and I've already seen a lot of those wannabe guys. It's time to grow a pair and do this if you are really serious.

I "like" to dip. I "enjoy" the process. I know I need to stop but I haven't found a valid reason to do so. My wife and kids want me to stop. My parents want me to quit. But I still enjoy the thrill of the dip/spit. Any suggestions? Respectfully, NoQuitter.
I was right there with you. Enjoyed the heck out of dipping and honestly, nobody was telling me to quit.

You want a valid reason to stop? You can read the cancer stories, but odds are you won't get cancer. Save a little money every month, but you've already worked out the money to support your habit. Stinky breath doesn't mean much because you've already got a wife. Receding gum line isn't much of a reason to stop something you enjoy, is it? Showing your kids it's okay to put poison in your mouth isn't a real problem because you can punish them later if they try.

Truth is, nobody can give you a valid reason. It's something you have to work out for yourself.
That's a hell of a thing to say.
Dude...read up on the site. the cancer stories, Intro's, HOF speaches...etc We all know what you are thinking and going through. If you weren't thinking aboiut it, you wouldn't have visited KTC. When your ready to do it for yourself, come back and you'll be welcomed with all the support possible to help you stay quit. It will be the best decision of your Life and the 1st day of you new life.. You will control you, not the nic bitch!!!

My question is, why the hell are you here? You love dipping, it's not hurting you, so why would you quit? What you're saying is I'm a selfish asshole who can't see through my addict eyes that I'm on a road to some serious problems but right now this shit is delicious , and if something happens to me all those people that love me can now take me back and forth to the doctor and possibly feed me and if I have a lip left shove the thing I love most in this world in, I love dipping, or I'm an addict and until I understand and admit this I will continue on until it's possibly to late. I hope you choose to quit but if not maybe you will be one of the lucky ones to at least make it to 60! Until you hate dip you will have a very difficult time quitting with or without our help! Goodluck!

Man, you've got some introspection to do, because I'll tell ya what, you've been spouting full-blown addict babble. If you're just here because the wife's been riding your ass to quit, it ain't gonna work out for you. Why? Because you'll only end up building up resentment for her because "she's the reason" you're feeling withdrawal symptoms, and you'll start sneaking dips (if you haven't been doing this already). Can't quit for your kids, either. Why? Because you'll try to rationalize your dipping by telling yourself "Oh what do they know, they're just kids. They don't even understand what dip is." Can't quit for mom and dad. Why? Because you'll tell yourself "I'm my own person now, they don't run my life anymore." My point is, until you quit for you, you'll always find a reason to go back to it.

When you quit for yourself, your inner dialogue changes. You'll still try to rationalize your dipping, yes, but you'll also know that you chose to quit for yourself and it's a decision you made for your own well being as a man. You can hide from your wife and kids and sneak a dip in, but you can't hide from yourself. That's why you have to quit for you.

If you're waiting for a reason to stop, it may be too late. What, are you waiting for it to start causing you problems first? If so, it's often too late by that point. If you have even a hint of ability to learn through the suffering of others, go take a look at the cancer gallery and read the cancer stories like Nomore said. And as you do, realize that these aren't just people with bad genes (I used to tell myself that all the time). These aren't people who got just plum got unlucky. These are regular people like you and I who told themselves "Oh, I'll quit one day," didn't, and are either severely disfigured now or more likely, no longer with us.

And after all that, if you still love what you see, I have no choice but to write you off as being batshit insane. Flush your cans down the toilet and quit, man. We'll help you stay quit, but you've got to want it yourself.

Here's a reason: Outdoor Texan

Truth is, we can't list enough reasons for you to quit. Either grab your sac and do this or don't, but don't walk into a quitting forum and tell everybody why you love dipping. Also check your post about "you're certain you're not the only one that thinks this." How many guys responded to that post supporting that comment? We're resolute. That crap is nasty and often lethal. You're just brainwashed by all the poison coursing through your veins right now.

Ball's in your court. Quit or don't.
"Fuck nicotine dude. You don't need it. And you don't want it. It didn't do a thing for you and you know it." - worktowin
"today you dissided that shit wont control your life. and it wont. unless you let it." - drome
"Not thinking about nicotine is for people who've never used nicotine. We threw that option away with the first dip or drag on a cigarette. We are addicts, and cannot become un-addicted." - wildirish317
"You need to decide how much you really want to be quit." - pky1520
We are always at risk. And probably always will be. That is why I will never get "too quit" to post my +1. Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597

Are you committed to this? If this is about what your family wants, you will fail.
IF you want to quit...which is still unknown, it will be a lot easier if you buy into the system here. That means posting roll with your class everyday. You wont believe how much easier it is to quit with the support of others here. Post Roll if you're serious.

One thing that kind of put it perspective for me was this:

http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures ... o-give-up/

I hate the fact that I am, was dependent on nicotine. Dependent on something that was killing me and not benefiting me. If I didn't have it I would be moody, irritable, etc.

If those statements apply to you in the contract, well... 'flush'
