I'm still here and still quit! I'm 12 days in and I'm honestly not out of the woods yet. I'm clean (as a drug addiction to would say),but the struggle is still real. I'm headed over to join my quit group.
You don't seem serious about it.

I think you don't have what it takes because you're a woman.
That is such a messed up post! There are a LOT of female BAQ's on this site -- myself included. Tell her she is not ready to quit or not intent on her quit but DO NOT blame it on her being a woman -- really low!

I will say her group page was not that inviting -- the top of the roll had 2 characters jerking off onto the face of another one. Really are all of you guys still going through puberty? Maybe she did not think they were really serious or she did not want to deal with idiots.

I will say that I have been reaching out to her and really do hope that she comes onboard -- quits for the right reasons -- and sticks with it. I would love to have more female BAQs around here.
A thousand apologies.

Hope you stay quit, but more realistically I hope that when you cave (10 days, 100, 6 months whatever it is), the next time you quit you'll remember this site, come back and join your group and post your promise.

Post roll sister, it's our daily promise to quit for 24 hours. The system works.

Hey Firewoman. I still don't see a roll post in May 2018 from you? Trust me, the Brother/Sisterhood + Accountability = Success formula is really the special sauce of this place. You do not have to do this alone. Join your brothers and sisters in quit. It helps so much to quit alongside people going through the same things at the same time - these people will GET it. Nonaddicts don't. They just can't.

It is funny you used the words "not out of the woods yet." Just Friday I posted the same thing in my month...October 2016. 2016! We are never out of the woods. I feel 1000 x better. I rarely think about tobacco anymore, although at day 584 I still get occassionally craves out of left field. But I am just one bad decision away from a Day 1.

Good advice above. Read everything you can about this addiction and what nicotine has done to alter our brains. For me it was essential to do this so I could begin the process of seeing nicotine for what it was so I could start HATING it. So I could stop romanticing it. You have to get there, otherwise you will still think you loved it and are therefore depriving yourself of something.

Posting roll is the price of admission. Post roll in May today. You won't regret it.
Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

Firewoman76,

You have made a wise decision. Welcome to the group.

Here is some advice I like to share with new quitters to assist in your quit:

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

Next, learn to distract your attention from your desire for a dip to anything else that interests you. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially on your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges. So squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.

I quit with you today.

As a younger sister of rodeo cowboys I was exposed to chew/dip at an early age. When I was 12 years old the Copenhagen vendor gave our family several roles because they sponsored a couple of my brothers. Mind you, my brothers were not yet 18 years old and all of them chewed. Anyway, I began dipping at 12 off and on. At 18 I went to work as a firefighter for the forest service and began dipping regularly. At 22 after graduating college I joined the military and continued to dip. I've worked as a firefighter for the last 17 years.

I do not chew in front of ANYONE! My husband knows I chew, but I don't do it in front of him either. I am Embarrassed and ashamed of what I do, especially as a 'lady".

I quit cold turkey at 0030 hrs Tuesday morning. It has been 4+days and I am honestly mourning the loss. I actually loved dipping. The reasons I quit is because I need a knee surgery and the surgeon won't do surgery if you have nicotine in your system and because I know, deep down, that it's absolutely horrible for me. I wish I would have never started back up after quitting when I had kids.

Prayers for all those out there that are brave enough to kick this habit.
Decades of nicotine use isn't a habit, it's an addiction! The way to beat it is to quit, one day at a time, every damn day. There is a quit group here for you where you can do just that. Post roll every day, make connections and keep yourself and your contacts accountable. Congratulations on 4 days of freedom! My digits are available if you need them.

LetÂ’s do this together! ItÂ’s so much easier with help. I dipped 38 years and 1148 dayÂ’s ago , just like you I stumbled up on ktc. Since then there has been numerous changes in my life. You will see how much nicotine is holding you back from a lot of things in your life. Also you donÂ’t love dip, youÂ’re an addict just like me. Give it time, your brain will take awhile to rewire. Just think itÂ’s gonna be weird for you just like a lot of us to figure out what a normal life is but when you do I promise you that youÂ’re gonna love it. You will also realize how much you hate dip. Your quit group is May 18. Go to the welcome center learn how to post roll and letÂ’s get you some quit going. I will quit with you today and we can quit together ODAAT! My number is a pm away. Around here we donÂ’t wish each other luck we just do it, make that promise ODAAT take it 1 minute, 10 minutes just whatever it takes to keep that shit out of your mouth.

OK Firewomen, lots of awesome advice above, from some quitters who have raked up some serious days. I'll bet if you've read a bit, and i encourage that, you've heard a few common themes here - my past favorite is:

"... man i tried everything, until i found this site and posted my daily quit promise.."

but as my quit gets close to 4 digits (still cant believe it) my NEW FAVORITE IS:
" ... once i admitted to myself I was an addict, and always would be, it strengthened my quit ..."

We're all going through, getting ready to go through, or have gone through the same thing here. From the Day 1-ers to the day 2200-ers. We're all ONE BAD DECISION away from another day 1.

I remember Stranger and I joking back in the very early days that I was in Las Vegas and he was checking on me, (how cool is that by the way!), and I said it was so smokey in there that I couldn't stand it..he said be careful you don't breath too deeply, you may have to go back to day !!

Dont let the nic trick you into feeling comfortable, when the guard is down, it strikes, keep your guard up, Quit with us every day, post your promise, get active, be a leader. Post support in other groups, you'll be pleasantly surprised of the support you get in return.

This place saved my life man, - that's another common theme too which I really like! But I would change it too ' this place saved my life yesterday'
