You've hit on the best idea for quitting I could suggest; don't buy a can.

Believe me, the stores won't give you one for free.

Howdy. They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and I'm a writer who collects pokey things. Basically you're boned either way.

Tommy,
Congrats on your quit. You've made the best decision possible for you and your family. Nicotine is a killer.
This site is an awesome resource. Listen to the advice given by your brothers and sisters in the quit.

Stay strong.

I quit with you today!

Welcome Tommy. Buckle up , keep hands in the ride and hang on. You ask why I say this? It's because the ups and down of quitting is like a Rollercoaster ride. But ride on , it gets so much better. Get involved, ask questions, listen, read it all helps. I quit with you today my friend!

If you get really confused, we have some videos in the Welcome Center as well.

And, by the way, yes...here we go again. You can do this because we are. From here on out, you need to decide to keep doing this again and again. That's all quitting is. You do what you did before. Eventually, it will get easier. I promise. But, for now, sack up and stand against the hurricane. It will pass, and you'll be a man afterwards.

No excuses. No turning back.

Really, just go to the December quit group, go to the last page, and say "Hi, I'm on day 1, how do I post roll?"

They will point to the steps :

find last roll post
hit the quote button
select all (ctrl A)
cut (ctrl X) [this is the tricky step, don't copy]
go to the upper box on the form, paste (ctrl V)
find the list of bad ass quitters (it is above the supporters, you will need to scroll) add you name and days, plus whatever short comment is on your mind
hit post.

That will become automatic in time. Right now the only way to screw up roll is to not post at all (even a "somebody post for me" reply works)

I promise I have spent 100 dollars in August trying to quit this stupid habit. Every time I bought a can for $5 I would throw it away within the hour. THIS TIME I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE!

The road will be hard, but at least I will see my daughter graduate from college or even get married. I can't wait to enjoy the future nicotine free by grabbing it by the throat and enjoying what life brings.

DAY 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tommy, quitting is hard. A couple thoughts to get you off on the right foot:

1. nicotine is an addiction, not a habit. Yes, I too am an addict.

2. cold turkey is the way to go. nicely done.

3. its going to suck (you knew that part right?)

4. go to the December 15 quit group. say hello. post roll. (December is when you will be 100 days quit, a nice landmark on the way to health)

5. work on brotherhood -- share your digits with your fellow quitters in Dec 15. help each other through the rough spots. know your suck is not unique

6. work on accountability -- post roll every damn day. be accountable to yourself. be accountable to your fellow quitters.

I quit with you today.
