Hey All,

I had a great day at work at the golf course (where %95 of the employees chew) WITHOUT dip.

It's pretty cool to come home, open up the forum and see so much support right away. It's amazing how much this forum was on my mind and some of the stuff you guys have been saying in past posts. It really helps.

Thanks for the water and juice tips. I can just feeeeel the nicotine still in my system. More water (lots more) makes sense.

Awesome.

Hey guys, I like the site and the support it seems to provide.

I've been dippin here in Denver since I was 16 and I'm 33 now. I think the longest I ever went was 2 weeks without a dip.

I've gotta quit this shit. For me. For my wife. For the future family we want to start.

More importantly, I just role called with the September boys (sorry for messing up the role call) and I'm not gonna dip TODAY. Day 2. Bring it.

JR
hey my man, I'm from Denver as well. Good to have you.

Water does wonders, others have said it, I'll say it, drink lots of water... I don't mean hey guy try to have a glass of water now and then instead of that coke and boy it sure is a novel idea.

Try this, drink 16 ounces of water everytime you get a craving, shoot for 1 gallon a day for a week. Tell me then how your cravings were.

Quit for whatever reasons you see fit, point is you quit. Fight the mob or join it, just post role everyday, man the fuck up and understand that only thing standing between you and breaking this nasty habit is your ability to keep your word and your mental fortitude.
Welcome JRBruce,

I'm just up the hill from Denver also.

This is all good advice and there's plenty more if you look around. The water tip is invaluable as is the juice.

Nicotine is water soluble, the more water you drink, the faster you get the bitch and it's by-products out of your system. The faster you get that shit out, the faster you get through the physical aspects of the withdrawal.

Nicotine causes glycogen (sugar) to release into your bloodstream and that is why low blood sugar causes craves. The juice will help minimize those craves.

Posting roll is your promise that you will not use that day and that promise is sacred around here so post roll every single day and post as early as possible.

You have made a wonderful decision and if you use the tools, information and support this site provides, you WILL BE QUIT. Caving is not an option.
Internet Tough Guy - USMC 1981-1985

Long after the adolescent preoccupation with self-image has subsided, nicotine will pre-empt even food in time of scarcity on the tobacco user's priority list." From: "Smoker Psychology Research" by Helmut Wakeham, Presented to the Philip Morris Board of Directors November 26, 1969.

On February 24, 2010 at 4:05pm I took my life back.

On June 4, 2010 I joined the HOF.

high altitude quitters are the most badass by far. Besides water, drink juice to keep your blood sugar up and stable. A blood sugar crash will cause you to crave. Get something to keep the oral fixation at bay as well. Gum, life savers, hookers from colfax, put anything in your mouth but dip.

"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

the only person you should quit for is you and you alone. Sure your wife and future family will benefit but you should be selfish with your quit and do it just for you. You are going to start feeling GREAT in the near future.
That's a good point Mike. You're right. I guess if you quit for your wife, then why not start right up again because your buddy is having a dip? Yeah, I'll be a selfish bastard about this.

...Nice sweater-cows.
