Welcome aboard. Go find May 2016 in quit groups and post your day 1 there because that will be your home group. Click on this link to get you to your quit group. May 2016

Post your promise not to use nicotine first thing to start your day, honor your promise for that day, and then repeat. You will have to endure the nicotine withdrawal for a few days, but it will get out of your system. Drink plenty of water, exercise, and read as much as you can in here.

I quit with you.

Rob, When you are done with roll for the day and you still feel the itch you should read through the threads and go to the live chat. There are usually people on and off there that would like to help you with your quit from answering your questions, giving you advise on what to do when an itch is coming on, and overall just discussing what ever is going on. So I advise you to check it out. Stay Quit

Rob,

Wlecome and you have made the first step in taking back your life. You and I have both posted roll today so we both know that using today is not an option because we are both men of our words. That's how this place works give your word that you will not use today, fight through the day, sleep and repeat. Reach out when you are in need or feel like shit is getting to deep. Check your Inbox, upper right hand corner, I have sent you my digits. Quit with you today.
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse. 02/05/15 9am

When you join the May quit group, reach out and exchange digits with your fellow quitters. Let your group know what you are going through. It is easier to do it together. Plus lots of people who have been there done that post support -- you are not alone here.

Welcome to KTC Rob! And I see you posted roll already in May - Fantastic! We take that promise very seriously here, never forget that as you push through these first challenging days - one day at a time, sometimes one minute at a time.

Your mindset seems solid, but I want to point out a couple of possible issues that I see. First, you need to know this is not a "habit". Nicotine is a highly addictive drug. That "itch" is nothing more than an addict's (Rob's) withdrawal symptom. Addicts will do crazy things to get our next fix - at some point, the sooner the better, you will need to admit this. There is lots of great information here at KTC. The good news is that after about 72 hours, the drug will be flushed out of your system, but your brain takes much longer to rewire.

You have never quit before Rob. You have just temporarily stopped. You only quit once, and that quit has to be for you - not your job, not your fiance, - you. Hwne you quit for you, your life will get so much better in many ways - not just the integrity (I am ashamed of the lies I told when I dipped), but the ability to be present, and patient with the people you care about.

This is the best decision of your life! I am quit with you today.

CJ
Don't be afraid.  You are not alone.

Hey everyone
« on: January 26, 2016, 04:19:00 AM »
Hey guys, my name is Rob. I'm 31, and I've been a daily dipper since my freshman year in high school when the Varsity football players told me to take part. Never looked back.

My reasons for quitting:
1. I am a youth pastor at a church, and while some of the staff know about the habit and are okay with it, I don't like keeping secrets or lying to people. There have been times over the years where kids have seen cans and I've made up lame excuses (ie: My friend left that in my car). Or the more legendary story, when a kid drank out of a week old spitter (McDonalds cup) in my car, and he somehow believed it was rotten Dr. Pepper. No more secrets.

2. I am getting married in June. I have never kept this habit a secret from her, and she is incredible, but I know she wants me to quit. Nothing is worse than hanging out with her for a few hours and then begin to get the itch to throw in a dip. I want to be fully present with her 100% of the time and not be thinking about my Copenhagen wintergreen.

I've tried quitting numerous times, with 2 years ago being my most successful. I made it about a month and a half and then got back into it. I've never been more motivated than now, though. Yesterday (Monday the 25th) was my first day without a dip. I'm on Chantix to help with the cravings. Still, they are worse than I remember, but I'm making it through. One day at a time. I'll be joining the May support group. Hoping this can help put me over the edge to finally quit for good!
