Thanks guys, just threw my hat in the June group...I went through some really heavy dt type crap over the weekend, for some reason I didnt think the nic gum would f that up to bad...I was wrong and I threw the nic gum out today...

Nothing but me from this point forward...At least I went through the worst of it I HOPE over the weekend...

Only chewed 2 pieces of nic gum, but it actually made me feel like shit so I knew I didnt want to be on it...

Again Thanks for having me boys...
That is great for you and great information for the rest of us. Even a little bit of nicotine in the form of gum will make you feel like shit and re enter THE SUCK.

I am glad your hear and others can read this. NO NICOTINE ANYTIME ANYWHERE people.
Welcome to a better life.

Welcome and congrats on your decision.

You had the nic flushed out of your system, so you basically just started over.

Shit can the nic gum, head to June '10 and post up.

You got this.
Welcome, is there good TX BBQ somewhere, I cannot find it.

Spit the gum out, you were clean from nicotine completely and you just put it back in your body with that damn gum. Now you may have 3 more suck ass days when they should be getting better.

Head on over to the May group and introduce yourself. It is a little crazy in there but they will help you whenever you need it.

Since you are day 5 you should be in the May group unless you want to call it day 1 again because of the gum in which case you would be in the June group. With only 1 piece I am sure most will agree it is OK to still call it day 5 and have you post roll call in the May group.
Day 1, sack up and do it right

Just my humble opinion
MikeA, IMO that is some shitty ass advice. "Just 1 piece of nicotine gum is OK" WTF? I don't think it is.

So I'm day 19 today and If want to have just a lil pinch after lunch I can call it a mulligan and continue tomorrow on day 20. Are you a little foggy today?

my $.02

Chris head over to June and post up when you spit that gum out. Great to have you.

I have just read many posts here about the gum. My favorite is by a vet who says the gum is OK as long as you use a prescribed, so if the package says 4 pieces and you lick the shell of the 5th that is a cave (or something like that)
Like I said, some will agree and some won't. This issue has been debated plenty, if you read you can make your own decision.

It's true, I was supplementing my quit with a couple of nic pieces a day for a few weeks until a whole mess of people set me straight here. Immediately though upon stopping I suffered the same withdrawel symptoms you just mentioned. So nic is nic no matter what form you get it in. So get rid of the gum and you'll be on your way again....

22 Years wasted / 5 days clean
« on: February 24, 2010, 01:26:00 PM »
Hello folks. My name is Chris and Im a 38 year old married father of 3 boys. I live Texas and have been dipping snuff full time for 22+ years can to can and half a day. I started on Skoal Fine cut witnergreen, and never switched or downgraded to a cheaper snuff all those years.

My first dip was from my grandads can when 15 years old. I always wondered why I didnt listen to my body that day, because I got sick as shit and should have realized what I was putting in my body wasnt good for me.. 'bang head'

Well, being an avid outdoors person and having a job where I could dip freely all the time, I pretty much had a dip in my mouth unless I was eatin, sleeping or brushing my teeth...

I just made up my mind this last week to actually quit...Not for my kids, not for my wife...for ME!

Friday at 9pm I dumped out my last can and waited for the effects to hit...By Saturday morning I was craving really bad so I got some seeds, ate a few and tried to sleep to take my mind off it..

I woke up Saturday evening having cold sweats, flu like symptoms and my stomach was trashed. It got worse on Sunday, and even worse on Monday...

At 9pm tonight, I will be 5 days snuff free with no cheating...Im actually very proud of myself, but the urgers are still there BIG TIME...

I chewed a piece of nicorete gum for the first time today, and it actually made me alittle dizzy at first...Should I leave the nicorete out now that I have most of the nicotine out of my system?

Anyway, this site is great and I wish I would have had the information you proivide before I quit...But Im here now

Thanks,
Chris
