Hi everyone, I found this website and forum and reading through it has made it easier during this first 7 days of being a quitter. I chewed for about 16 years. I was never a huge user, usually about a can every 4-5 days unless I was at hunting camp, or maybe an outdoor party. My usual time for putting in a dip was when I would play Xbox in the evening. Of course, I also used it at other times, and would always have that fear that I might forget my can, or be somewhere where I couldn't chew. THAT'S WHAT I'M SICK OF! So I guit.
Since I wasn't a huge user, the first 3 days really weren't that bad for me, of course I didn't play Xbox during those days either. Then I bought a new game to play and the craving hit me instantly. I'm talking, before I even sat down, I wanted to put that dip in. I didn't. So I played the game and enjoyed it, but not as much as before. I played again the following night, I wanted dip. Then I realized, it was actually just having something in my lip that I was craving. So, and this is weird I admit, I got some coffee grinds and put them in my lip. It satisfied me, sort of.
I had heard of the herbal snuffs before, and even tried one probably 18 years ago, before I ever started dipping, and I didn't like it. But, from reading on this website, it seemed that it has been improved. So, I thought if the urge came again, maybe I'd try it. I played Xbox again last night, the urge came, so I went to the store and bought some Smokey Mountain Wintergreen. It's pretty darn good, and it allowed me to enjoy my game. But, I can't help but think that using it is just a crutch, and another habit that I will have to break.
I'm sorry if I've rambled, but I feel better just typing out this message. Thanks.
