Hey guys, I am brand new to the group. My name is Evan, and I started dipping in late 2008 when I joined the Army. I dipped pretty much every day until last month, when I decided I'd had enough! I was really starting to worry about my mouth and my teeth, and I decided oral cancer is not for me! My gums were bleeding every time I brushed my teeth, and I was embarassed to go the dentist. Since quitting roughly 40 days ago, my breath is way better, my gums are not bleeding, and I swear my sense of smell has vastly improved. I am even breathing through my nose more when I sleep. I am so glad I found this community. I had no idea how bad the withdrawal symptoms could be, and I did indeed have all the symptoms. Honestly, I though I was dying. My throat and mouth were so sore that I though I had cancer. I feel much better now, my mouth has healed, my intestinal track is working better, my throat feels normal, and I can taste food again. I want everybody who is trying to quit to really focus on how devastated your friends and family would be if you died from a stupid dip addiction. I survived 2 combat tours, I am not going to let a dip addiction kill me! I am chewing a lot of gum and drinking lots of water, and exercise helps too. Dont worry if you gain a few pounds when you stop, you can work it off in a few weeks. I am so glad I decided to quit and be free from the can. I would suggest doing "trigger" activities without dip to show yourself you really can quit! Good luck to all you guys trying to quit, and Happy New Year!
