Been dip free for one week now. Felt it was time to share my story. Started dipping in high school at around 16 or 17 years old. Guys on the football team got me hooked on it. I then used it to help me lose weight for wrestling. Did it after school, then soon during school, then at home, etc, etc, etc.

That was 21 years ago! I'm 38 years old now. Married with 2 kids. I was up to 3 tins a day of the shit! I would only get 2 dips out of a tin (used Redseal wintergreen). besides it getting to be an expensive habit I knew it was only a matter of time that something would go wrong. My dentist never said a word (oddly enough my oral hygeine is very good) and the only time I even had my gums specifically checked for issues was when I worked in baseball and dentists came in to screen any tobacco users gums. I really though this would motivate me to quit but the dentist looked at my gums and said "you look fine keep doing whatever you're doing." I couldn't believe it!!! That opened the flood gates even more.

After numerous attempts to quit I found this sight and have been "dip free" for a week and plan on being so for life. This is the longest period I have quit but I'm sure it's for good this time. I feel like I have some support on this now. Before, since I was a real closet dipper, I could never let anyone know I was quitting because they didn't know I did it in the first place. Now I can share what I'm going through (the withdraws, nic fits, etc.) with others going through the same thing.

Thanks to all and NO CAVING!!!!

I just happened to stumble upon this site by chance. I have been chewing for about 10 years now and recently have seemed to be doing a ridiculous amount of it up to over a tin a day of Kodiak. I don't know what is spurring me to quit, it could be the fact that I have a new girlfriend who doesn't know I chew yet, and perhaps I never want her to know. Or the amazing toll it takes on your bank account these days. I would like to give my gratitude for the creators of the site, I think this will help put me over the top, I've tried before and obviously have been quite unsuccessful. It's good to know there are others going through the same situation. I just threw out the remainder of my last can and am determined to make it work this time (Although I already cant stop thinkin about another chew) Heres to the strenous yet rewarding road that lies ahead.
You can do this JTJ, welcome to the site. As someone pointed out in an earlier post. Before you quit, you just went through constant mini withdrawals. Every dang day when you are at a place you can't dip, what were you thinking of?

I know it is worse when you going thru the initial withdrawal but when you are done you will be done and those thoughs will gradually fade! It is so nice to get that monkey off your back. I'm at 58 days and life is so much better now. Just take it one day at a time. Read the posts on here, post, get phone #'s whatever it takes. just don't dip.

Again welcome !

Welcome. I'm part of your HOF "class" and noticed you haven't signed up for roll call yet. Do it.

It may seem stupid but I've only been on this site since 8/28 and I'm already doing roll the first thing in the morning and doing some checking in. It works. These guys and women are really dedicated to helping ANYONE AND EVERYONE who asks. Just be straight up and serious. Stick with it.

So do roll and we'll see you again tomorrow morning.

Congratulations on the decision JTJ…you’ll find, if you have the stones, that this will be the crowning jewel in your life’s work. This shit is hard. This shit is damned hard. Eliminate all negativity associated with your quit. Never say “hope”. Never say “I think”. These are chickenshit phrases your addiction is using to keep the door open just a little.

And one day, your demons will kick the sumbitch open and smack you upside the head. Next thing you know, your ass is knee deep in a can of Kodiak.

Learn how to post roll call…more importantly, learn why we post roll call. The day you take that simple task seriously, no bullshitting, “I just gave you my word serious”…then you will be well on your way to the freedom you seek.

We understand that you are going to be a prick, that new girlfriend won’t…and even if she knew why, she prolly wouldn’t get it. So…your job is to take your petty, whiny ass, “my pussy hurts”, vulgar displays of aggression and manhood, etc. out on us. The only other poor bastards who understand the changes your body and mind will go through during this transformation. There are several of us that gladly walk around with targets on our backs for you to chuck spears at. So when you feel the urge to be an asshole coming on, and you will….you damned sure will. You do it here.

We will walk the road with you, chuck the spears back at you when you need it, talk much, much shit to you in the process, some will pat you on the back and hold your hand, some will kick you in the ass and challenge your manhoodÂ….but more importantlyÂ…we WILL shape your mind into an instrument of war against the bear.

If you want it broÂ…we hold the keys. All you have to do is what LOOT has outlined for you.
Not much more to say JTJ, other than welcome aboard, and KNOW that this shit CAN be done. You can be free from the Nico-Bitch, and live your life the way it was intended to be................FREE!
