hey Brothers of Quit,
Good to be Quit with YOU!
I dipped 30 yrs, 1-2 can/day, 24/7. I am 83 daze quit. I have learned what a toothbrush, floss, and mouthwash is.
I have never done this strange routine that "normal" people have done all of their lives....LOL
I always thought, well hell, nothing can get through the tobacco stains anyway!!! real good logic...NOT.
When it comes to your body adjusting to "not" having poison in the mouth, anything good can happen.
As for the "fake dip"...I bought 7 cans, online, they were delivered on my 2nd day of quit...I opened one, (was thinking, "umm I'm allowed?") Smelled it, (said to myself, "damn you smell just like the real thing. I don't need YOU!") I put the lid back on, put it with the other 6 cans. On my 73th day, all 7 unused cans went into the garbage.
Same thing with what I "thought" I needed to stop dipping, namely Zyban. I had an appoint with the doctor and got a prescription for Zyban...suppose to help with the craves...Doc says, you shouldn't quit today, this zyban takes 3 days to get into your system...can you believe a health prof. saying that?? I didn't say a word...I can only imagine what my face was saying...
Took the zyban for 4 daze. I took a hard look at it....more poison from the pharm companies who control the biggest drug trade in the world. I put it down and said to the bottle, "I don't need YOU".
Do whatever it takes to be quit and stay quit. For some, the fake stuff worked for them. Others use cinnomin gum, seeds, cold water, hard candy, tic tacs, redhots, ice breakers, the list is endless. I do gum, water, ice breakers and wintergreen life savers. I try to use only sugarless stuff. Trying to keep my teeth! LOL
Stay quit brothers, ONE day at a TIME and your days will stack up nicely and you can say, "Look Ma, no poison in my lip"! 'zombie'

That is good stuff right there. I agree 100%. "Pills and patches are for pussies" was what I used to say.

But, I have learned a great many things from the bad-asses on this site. One of them (form Coach, I think) is that everybody is different. Some folks get anxiety/depression or other dangerous conditions that can, and should, be treated by medical doctors. I thank the Lord I didn't, but some folks do. So, if you do, then do the smart thing and get the help you need. There is no shame in getting help. The important thing is that we're quit.

But like I said, we're all a little bit different. What worked for me was cold turkey, no sleep, white knuckle, cold sweat, consitpated, agitated, scatter brained, killthecan.org surfing until I could at least remember my name to log in again.

Any change today Remmi?
I will conquer what has never been conquered.
Defeat will not be in my creed.
I will acknowledge the fact that I am an elite warrior who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by any means at my disposal.
I accept the fact that my team expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than our opponents.
Never shall I fail my comrades.
I will rip the heart from my enemy and leave it beating on the ground.

WHO AM I? .... I AM A QUITTER!!!

Remmi,

Like buddy said, its always best to have the dentist check it out.

However there is good possiblity that it could be from the smokey moutain. It's not the exact same texture as a dip, that your gums are use to, so it could be causing irritation.

I know for myself at least when i think back to when i started dipping my gums hurt until they got use to being cut to shit (and yet for some reason I was a dumbass and stuck with it)

I did have a smiliar experience the one time I tried to use a nic free snuff to quit. It wasn't smokey mountain but the gums and lip were sore from the new foreign material in my mouth.

Have been dip free for 10 days now, couple of days ago bottom lip and gums stated feeling tingly and a little numb and is still going on today.  Just wondered if this is normal, i had read that gum soreness was expected after quitting, kinda starting to freak me out a little.
Also been dipping the smokey mountain fake stuff when this kicked up, has anybody experienced the thing????
Remmi,

For my first two months quit I had more sores and crap in my mouth than I ever did when i was dipping. My dentist said I was just healing. 20 years of killing my mouth would not heal over night. I am 117 days in and my mouth and teeth feel great. Always see dentist though if you have sores.
Remmi,

I'm on day 5 and I'm starting to get some white patches on my tongue, they aren't painful or anything my mouth is just healing itself

I think the routine of the chewing was and is harder than the nicotene withdraw. Just my personal view. I would never want to go through those 4 days again. Felt like I was walking around with a big bubble over my head. Half hearing everyone and just kinda clueless. Just wierd. Got to try to get some zzzz s. Take care.

congrats to you as well.
i'm learning that it hasn't really been all that tough to quit.
my addiction was for 20 years and got to be 2 cans/day for the last 12 of them. All that money wasted for killing urself.

Ill tell you in about 6 days. Im only 4 days no dip. But from reading on here and other places your gums will start to heal in a few weeks after stopping. Dont know if thats what your feeling or if its to early for that. Wish I could help more. Congrats on your quit.
