Hello all! I am 27 years old and have been dipping Copenhagen Long Cut since I was 15. I obviously am here to quit. I joined this site in 2012 and thought it would be too difficult so never attempted to. The time to quit is now. It is costing me $6.00 per day, my gums are receding, and it is one of the most unattractive things you can do. I do not want to deal with the health problems when i am older. I do have some questions. I am leaving next week for Hawaii and ill be there two weeks and was wondering if you guys thought it would be a good strategy to quit during that time. Would going cold turkey be the best strategy? Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Brady
Brady, I have a similar story. Dipped Copenhagen long cut for 18years, in my early 30Â’s and had been lurking on this site for years before I finally made the pledge. The difference about quitting on your own ( which I tried and failed countless times) and quitting with the fine folks of KTC is that every single person here knows exactly how much it sucks to quit the Nic.

IÂ’m only 8 days in and have had a ton of ups and downs already, but I can tell you posting roll every morning and texting w fellow quitters makes all the difference. ODAAT.

Be honored if you joined our October quit group (Rawktober). I’ll PM you my number. If you need it text me. We’re in the same group and can help each other thru. At first I didn’t think I’d like texting “strangers” but after one day I see how valuable it is.

Hope you decide today is the day you quit.

If you are here and truly want to quit, the time is now. Get into the October 2018 group and post roll. Give your word that you will not use nicotine in any form today and focus on keeping that word for just the next 24 hours. Tomorrow morning, repeat. Here at KTC we post roll every day, keep our words and never makes excuses. Quitting has easy days and super hard days. But after giving your word to your brothers and sisters of quit, you are left with only one choice that day - to honor your word and QUIT LIKE FOCK.

I was in your shoes 802 days ago. Not exactly the Hawaii trip but I came on here asking when I should quit and Richard K said "flush what you have and quit TODAY". It was a week earlier than I "planned" but maybe that extra week quit saved my life and prevented me from getting cancer.

I am in my late 20's myself and can relate to your position. We are young and think we are invincible but somewhere deep inside we know dipping/nicotine use will cut our lives short in some way. Though whether we are in our 20's or 60's or in between, we are all addicts here to help each other say no to nicotine one day at a time (ODAAT).

So again, go post in Oct 2018 right now and start to share your digits via the PM tool in the upper right corner (called Inbox). Sharing digits may seem weird but it's how we create the accountability network that helps us reach out to each other when cravings get tough. We have been in your shoes; we are here to help.

Post roll while on your Hawaii trip too. Airports have internet, planes have internet, your hotel should have internet. So dive in and don't look back. Freedom starts today.

Welcome back brady. As 240B pointed out quitting cold turkey is the only way. All other ways are just changing the delivery method. Fake chew is an alternative some use. I can tell you that if I was to have a trip to Hawaii planned I would quit now! The time is now! DonÂ’t let another dip enter your mouth. Read the welcome page and understand that by waiting one more day you are just prolonging the inevitable. Hell you have waiting long enough. 6 years since joining the site. So I implore you dump your stash, flush it and post roll daily. We are addicts and as addicts we cannot have just one more. One more turns into weeks and months and before we know it we have been on a site for 6 years and still havenÂ’t stopped sucking on cancer. DonÂ’t let another day of your life slip by while you wait. That next dip you take might be the one that causes that cancer. It might be the one that causes your teeth to fall out.

Welcome Brady!

It is hard to quit but not impossible! Cold turkey is the only method supported on KTC. No Nicotine of any kind is tolerated. Fake chew is allowed, and many think it is a useful tool.

The veterans will be around shortly to chime in, but Im on day 11, and if I was you I would quit today! By time you leave for Hawaii you will be feeling much better, and will be able to enjoy yourself!

Quit today.
Post Roll.
Get Digits.
Continue ODAAT.

You can do this. We can do this.
