I guess I will just take the advice and not worry about using the fake stuff or how to quit it. It does satisfy the oral fixation. I hate chewing gum all day. I will say the first 3 days really messed me up, but now I do not have much of a problem with any kind of nicotine cravings. What is the deal with posting roll? and how exactly do you go about doing it?

Thanks, Wayne
Posting roll is about accountability...to your quit group/brothers, but more importantly, it is about SELF accountability. Signing roll is your daily PROMISE to everyone that you will not use nicotine of any kind that day. It is the keystone of this site.

Don't sell the craving short - it will sneak up and bite you in the ass faster than you can spit. If you have used the fake and it has helped, keep using it. Like so many others, I relied on it for a good long while in the beginning. Now, it sits in the car or at home and is there if I really have a craving...but I rarely even think of it any more. You will get there...but until you do, keep it close at hand.

Hey,
I quit this stuff on February 28th.  Yesterday was 3 weeks.  I have been using the fake stuff (smokey Mountain) My question is how do you get off the fake stuff?  I have the habit of putting it into my mouth.  I still have moments of hard times but now I just want to go at least one day without something reminding me of dip.  My name is wayne and I dipped for 23 years, and now its been 3 weeks. :D
Echoing what others have said... I chewed the fake stuff every day for a good 200+ days into my quit. Then one day I just stopped reaching for it. Personally I say use it until you don't want it anymore.

Bump. Same here. I still have fake stuff laying around. I'll get one every now and then.

Eventually, you'll stop doing it. Until then, as long as there is no nic - chew it!

NOLAQ - 373 Days

On another note, find your quit group and start posting roll here every day. It helps.
What is your major malfunction?!?!?!?!

I was tempted to try the fake 'cause I knew quitting was going to be tough, but then I realized that I had testicles, so I quit cold-turkey insted.

Just bullshittin you. I didn't do the fake because I wanted to get the idea of dipping ANYTHING out of the equation. I thought that would make for a cleaner break from that shit I used to put in my lip, and so far I have been right.

I got nothing against the fake personally. There's alot of hard-quittin bastards in this community that still use the fake and their quit is just as strong as mine. It's not a crutch, so to speak. Nic-gums, nic-patches, and chantix are crutches IMHO.

You worry about one addiction at a time. Get that nic-slut off of your mind and out of your body first, then the least of your worries will be the fake.

I quit the fake stuff the same way I quit the real stuff. I used it until I didn't have any more and then I didn't buy any more.

Wayne...
I am not saving any money from my quit...why???? because I spent it all on gum, seeds, lemon drops and anything else I could chew. About 3 months ago I finally went after the "oral fixation" quit and dropped all that stuff pretty easy. If the fake stuff works...use it. Deal with the oral fixation later...deal with nic and stay quit now.

Wayne chew that fake crap like it's your job and don't worry about it. It cant kill you. Fight the nicotine addiction first then deal with the oral fixation. You will walk away from the fake easily when your ready
I still chew the hell out of pen caps. I destroy them. I have also been known to keep a peach pit in my mouth for four+ hours. I like my oral fixation. It makes me charming and interesting.

And a generous lover.

"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

It is pretty easy. Dip with nicotine = addictive. You body/mind will demand it. Dip without nicotine is NOT addictive. NO ADDICTIVE cravings. Because smokey mountain will NOT give you that nicotine addictive feedback, you will eventually just grow board of it. Give it time. Many dippers just use less and less and less.

Wayne, just a bit of advice. Sign up with this site and start posting roll. Otherwise, you may very well be jamming nicotine in your mouth again. Just sayin'. I know. I was an expert of "quitting" before joined this site.
