Sincere thanks for the replies and support; I just had my very first small victory. Had to fill up at the gas station; went in and purchased a pack of gum, stared at the dip display, shook my head and walked out the gas station. Can't remember the last time I did that...
That's the shit right there. Look it in the eye and say NO! You can do this. Get more gum. Lots more.
If you don't have fake chew (if you want it), you can get fresh mint leaves at the grocery store (most carry it around here in Fort Worth so I'm guessing it's available other places).
Just keep saying no and you will get through this. Let your wife know what you are doing. Lots of suck to come including: low energy, insomnia, anger, frustration, fog, etc. Read this site and you will get the picture. It's all normal, but it's worth it.
And like you, I put alcohol on the shelf at the same time because there was no way I could quit one and keep the other. In the "GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER" there is support for just about anything else--
