Beckty86,

Congratulatios on finding the site and being quit some 11 or 12 days now.

My suggestions:
- post roll call first thing in the morning
- drink plenty of OJ. When you dip your brain releases sugars. No dip, no sugars. Replace those sugars with OJ or fruit juice.
- do not let yourself get hungry. Getting hungry makes your craves worse. Eat good food, eat regularly, don't get hungry
- exercise as much as you can to work out the tension you feel in your muscles. do some cardio and do some strength and do it regularly
- get as much rest as you can
- train your mind to think about something else when you think of dipping. You have kids, remember when they were babies and cried constantly? How did you stop the crying - you tended to their needs but sometimes you just distracted them with motion, a song, a hug. Learn to distract your mind and focus its attention on something else. Makes the quit so much easier.

I quit with you today.

I am on day 8 and have failed to do and intro up to this point. I found this site 4 years ago and wish i would have pulled the trigger then, either way i am here now and i am committed. I am 32 and have dipped on average a can a day since i was 15. I have tried and failed numerous times on my own. longest i was every able to go was 4 days and that was with using nicotine replacement. On July 13th ( my wedding anniversary) I Decided i was done. On the 14th i walked out to the car from the hotel the wife and i were staying at and dumped a half a can on the ground in the parking lot. Ive been through a ton of atomic fireballs and and equal amount of sees candy little pops since then. Had a pretty bad crave and killed it with some Hooch fake stuff. The thing is i dont want to replace copenhagen with something fake. I want to get past the oral Fixation, and all the Habitual things that go along with this addiction. so i will only use a replacement for the worst times. A few people have reached out to me on here and I text everyday with one who has more time in than I.

Anyways, like i said I am 32, Married with two kids (3 and 1.5) I enjoy all things camping and fishing. I try and spend alot of time mountain biking, or just riding the 'hood with the family.

I plan on posting in here during my quit with updates here and there, i also spend too much time in the live chat.
Hey Beck,

First and foremost congrats on the decision to take off the leash and take back your freedom. What a great decision man. When I quit I used atomic fireballs, jolly ranchers and smokey mountain. I actually broke a tooth on the fireballs. The oral fixation was a bitch for me. I completely understand your concern. I kept a pretty frequent journal on my own intro and I'm glad I did. I chronicled my concern that I had extended the cravings by using the fake stuff. You know what though? It's your quit. You do it however you need to so you keep nicotine out of your blood. The most important thing is staying quit. Everything else is secondary.
As far as you keeping track of your quit on your intro page I highly recommend it. After a few years you'll go back and read it and you won't know that guy. You'll wonder how you let yourself become that person.
Stay strong man. You got this.

Ive been quit awhile now and i use the fake stuff quite a bit. I think about the fake stuff as a tool to help me quit cause the nic an addiction and fake is habit. I figure when the addiction grows weaker i can let the habit go more. Thats how i see it i quit with you.
