Hey TEW, welcome aboard! Over time, cravings become less intense and less frequent, for sure, but like AppleJack said, this is something we all will have to be vigilant about the rest of our days.

You won't be thinking about dip every hour of every day the rest of your life, that's for sure, but right now I'm sure you're giving it a lot of thought. It's only to be expected. Now is the time to start gathering and learning techniques to deal with craves. Things like exercise (even just going on a walk), drinking water, making a list of reasons why you want to stay quit. Knowledge is what helps us all in this fight, and brother, there's a lot of it to be found here at KTC.

Congrats on making the decision to stop.

I'm 22 days in and the deep cravings stopped for me after about a week. I still have thoughts, but nothing like week 1. My bad cravings always came at night for some reason and I usually had either some hard candy or what really worked well was the nugget style beef jerky. I could take a bite of it and put it in my jaw just like dip and it helped kill the urge.

Tew welcome to the quit. I'm very new to This site and brotherhood so I probably don't have too much to contribute other than a congrats on making the best decision of your life. It's another kind of satisfaction resisting cravings and stacking days without dip. I'm sure a vet will chime in with more than I can provide. Just know that it's an every day battle from here on out. Dissect the forum and read everything. Best thing I did as far as helping with the cravings. Good luck quitter.

Seven days and counting

Hello to all. After dipping a can of cope (and some leaf) a day for 36 years I quit cold turkey July 2, 2015. It is unbelievable to me that I have not had any tobacco in 7 days. None. I always heard the hardest part was the first 3 days. I've had a little trouble sleeping. A couple of crazy dreams, but I think today was the hardest for me. Day 7, for some reason I really craved that dip. I was looking up alternative dips and stumbled on this site. I really don't want to put anything in my mouth. (other than gum) I think that will make it worse. Anyway, I see a lot of folks have "killed the can" here. I was wondering if anyone might chime in as to when someone might expect to really be on the downhill run away from the cravings. I hope to rid myself of that Nicotine once and for all. If I had all the money I spent on the crap, I could probably retire today, LOL..
