'jedisith' There is no try, only do. You are doing this man.

That is how its done Trow. Nice work. You are in the driver seat. You will soon learn that you do NOT need nicotine to be who you are. You never needed it. You only thought you did.

Keep it up.

Thanks everyone for the great comments, much appreciated.

Went back to work today (day 6).
I started the day by burning my boats, I told everybody I'm quitting chew.
My co-workers were supportive, and I'm sure they will be happy to hold my feet to the fire.

The mental fog was not too bad today, I still lack concentration, but not as bad as before.
The main challenge was triggers and cravings everywhere. I used to chew constantly, especially while at work.

My inner dialog was something like this for much of the day;

nic bitch: "This calls for a chew!"
me:"no"
nic bitch: "Time for a dip!"
me: "NO!"
nic bitch: "Something doesn't seem quite right, you should take a break and have a chew, that always helps you think."
me "Fuck off and die!"

I do feel that I'm making headway though.

All in all, a good day.

Keep fighting. It will get much easier, guaranteed.

Man, I'm glad the forum is back. Thank you for all the encouragement.

Day 4, My head isn't reeling quite as badly, but it's still reeling and making me a space case.
The cravings and urges are frequent, but manageable so far.

The forum has been down but the main site has been working, so I spent alot of today reading the articles there.

I played a little bit of "Wolfenstein: New Order" for a diversion. (sale on Steam).
And found that my powers of concentration suck, but my aim was rock steady. ( I tend to get spastic when a game gets intense)

I have armed myself with hard candy, sunflower seeds, and Smokey Mountain fake snuff.

The fake snuff really points out to me just how stupid this whole addiction is. It strikes me as completely absurd to pack that stuff in my lip.

There's no way I'd ever do that for fun. Must be chemical addiction at work.
The oral fixation is/was a huge issue for a lot of quitters Troy (myself included). Always better to throw in a pinch of SM when overwhelmed with a crave than a pinch of the poison. Just consider it another tool in your arsenal of quit.

BTW ... day 4 is absolutely killing it brother, congrats man!
Holy shit.

This is one of the greatest posts I've seen EVER. Your determination is admirable man. Keep it up.

Sorry about the forum issues. It wasn't us specifically, but more our host in general. They got spammed into turning off the servers basically, but we should be good now. Even though, protect your quit and prepare to make roll other ways if necessary. Hell, even if you never have to again, know how to post roll on our blog, group chat, or by text. The promise is for you first.

Thank you for strengthening my quit today.
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11

I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11

To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12

Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12

Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13

Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15

TRow, Great to see you here posting roll. I quit in my early 40's after decades of humping a tin. The big difference for me was I not only wanted to stop dipping, which if I were honest was something I wanted to do from my early 20's on, but I also wanted to take back control over my life from an addiction that was threatening my health, making me a sneak and a liar, alienating me from my family and friends. Fight for control, every minute of every day, you be in charge of what gets put in your mouth. Good luck.

Discomfort. That is an understatement. I remember pure misery. Quitting is hard. Hurts bad. But.......it will not kill you. I promise. Here is some good news...

1 this pain is temporary, (losing your tongue is not)
2 you only have to do this once.
3 you are not alone

Buckle down trow. You've got this. We have your back. You need a number my is there for the asking

Since caving is out of the question if I want to keep my word, It's just down to how do I come up with ways to endure the discomfort.
This is a pretty bad-ass statement. Why?

1) you honor your word. Without honor, then posting roll means nothing.
2) Caving is not an option and you state that first and foremost
3) You're embracing the suck and figuring out how to deal with it.

This is awesome. This is quitting. Ya know, as I typed that last one, it felt so trivial to me after writing the first two. Posting roll, honoring your word, and removing caving as an option...beyond that the suck should be a piece of cake. The "suck" is really, just the nicotine bitch trying to pull you back in. So really it's just dealing with life without nicotine... and now that your a roll posting honorable badass quitter, kicking the crap out of nicotine is your middle name...which makes embracing that suck all the better.

Thanks everybody for the outpouring of support. I'm kind of overwhelmed.

One thing about it, though, between the encouragement from everybody here and my Public promise to quit, it changes the face of this battle.

Since caving is out of the question if I want to keep my word, It's just down to how do I come up with ways to endure the discomfort.

Feeling kind of foggy, even time seems to pass strangely, oh, and that annoying unconscious habit of automatically reaching for a can... like every few seconds.

And the worst part is I did this to myself. Nobody made me. In fact, I recall people trying to discourage me from chewing way back then.

I like your input Trow, you are getting this quit 100%. It WILL SUCK as long as it does, but it will get better, and you'll be wondering why you never did this years ago. I know I did at first, but now all I know is quit. Join us and be free.
You have a price to pay for your freedom Trow. It will suck at times but in the end you will feel better than ever AND be a free man. I will quit with you and all the other badass quitters like Worktowin and Thumblewort that are pulling for you.
