50 days down. Its doesn’t seem real, I can’t believe I made it this far. Thank you all for keeping me encouraged and checking on me all the time. I know I haven’t been very active, outside of roll and text,  but I appreciate every message and text. I stared a new job is why I got less active, can’t have phone.

10 badass days of being nic free!  Huge step and you did it one day at a time.  Hope you're starting to walk out of the fog now.  It only gets better with each day.  Just remember, while this is a nice win for you, you're only 1 step away from being a user again.  Just continue to post your promise and build your web of accountability and own your quit.  Being a quitter is pretty badass imo...  PTQWYT.

There are two types of quitters on KTC. Those who post every damn day no matter what. They could survive a plane crash 50 miles from Nome Alaska and would kill a polar bear with a pocket knife, write their days quit on ice with its blood, snap a pic with their cell phone and text it to Drome. Then there are those who always have an excuse not to post or to post late. -bicycleptic

Just sent you a PM...us Texas boys gotta stick together.  It's amazing how prevalent nicotine is down here.  You just keep quitting one day at a time.  Sometimes, it's one hour at a time, or just a promise to yourself to get through the minute.  It does get better!  It IS worth it!  Reach out anytime.

I find myself looking forward to tomorrow each day so I can make a new promise and watch the day count grow and read others success stories!

The suck isn't nearly as bad as it was on day 1, but I still get the trigger induced cravings everyday, they are brief but intense.

I have been doing cardio every day (mostly riding bike) since right before my quit date, it helps a lot with the struggle and probably helped my system flush it out.

Thank everyone here! You guys keep me motivated to stay quit, reading your experiences and struggles!

Most people don't what to be know as a quitter, but when it comes to nicotine, I'll stand with you and proudly say Im a quitter!

Reading through the forums really is a life saver...takes your mind off of the suck. Thank all you guys here!
Im usually not a very open, nor talkative, kind of person if I dont know you... this has been a challange for me too here.

Some of the shit I read here in funny as hell - looks kind of awkward when your damn near peeing yourself and the console operator next to yours is trying to decipher what the hell is going on, but you can barely breathe much less explain.

Good job throwing the can away and getting serious about it Josh.
You have to be all in, no half measures.  Nicotine doesn't screw around; it desires to have you.  Even now it is crouching at your door but you must master it.  And you will. One.Day.At.A.Time

Josh, I'm right there with you, being new to the quit. Stay in it, stay strong, you don't actually need it - it's just playing games with your brain. Let's win today and keep our promise. We can worry about tomorrow when we post roll and make our promise then. TODAY. Josh, we all quit together today.

Greetings all my name is Josh from Lumberton, Texas. I quit using as of last night, so this is day 1 for me. I, like most, am very addicted to nicotine. Thinking about it kind of makes me sick, but Im finally admitting it to myself. I have had this trash in my system longer than I haven't, that's a sobering thought for me.

I was a dedicated smoker since about the age of 15/16, currently I'm 37 years old. I had used Grizzly Wintergreen even as a smoker while at work for the convenience factor, this started 4 years ago. I never really brought that dip habit outside of work until I quit smoking. July 2017 I finally quit smoking using the drug chantix. I was rough on me even with the drug but I managed to overcome it. I hadn't used dip for about a month during my quitting smoking phase. One day I got a can from a buddy at work, it was a good feeling. Fast forward two years and some months it has invaded my home, my drive, and every other aspect of my life. It essentially replaced my smoking habit.

Overall this day has been brutal for me, I can't stop thinking about the crap and my mind is fogged up. I can't even think strait. I stumbled upon this page and was inspired by the similar stories from people that quit. Reading your stories of success, has helped me get through this day without a dip, along with chewing the heck out of gum.

I plan to quit everyday and hope stay successful. Thanks for allowing me to join your community.

Hi Josh,

Welcome to the site.  Now that you are here, you will need to go and post your promise not to use nicotine for the next 24 hours.  You can do that here.

That is the April 2019 Quit Group.  There are already a good number of bad ass quitters in there going through exactly the same thing as you at the same time.

The principal is simple:

Post your promise.

Keep your promise.

Come back every day and make your promise again.  Anyone can quit for 24 hours right?  That's all you gotta do.  Easy.

Drink lots of water, it will help flush the nicotine out of your system.  Oh and you said that your last dip was yesterday, right?  That would make today, day 2 for your quit.

Start exchanging digits with those quitters in April.  The phone numbers give you instant access to support if needed they also build your accountability and brotherhood network.  Get some of the vets too.

It is going to suck.  Embrace the suck.  It will get better and then it will get soo much better.

Proud to quit with you today,

Chris

Thank you! I would be on day 2. I left that out of my introduction. I planned on quitting  yesterday at work, was around lunch time had my last dip. Went home for the day, kept a can in my bag I take to work, you know the incase things get real bad can. The can that will be screaming your name when you try and give it up, I caved around 8pm. Threw that thing away this morning, and found this site!

Josh

You posted perfectly.  Great job.  Did you get the private message I sent you with my digits?
Accountability is a two-way street so I hope to see your digits in my inbox soon or a text from you sayin “Hi”.

Keep your promise, come back early tomorrow morning and post again.

Chris
If you want my digits, just ask and they will be yours, but I expect yours in return.

You know why this site is so awesome?  Because guys like you who have tried everything possible to win at something that seems unwinable come here, go all in, and succeed... kick nicotine ass... enjoy the success... and help others along the way. This place really is magic, but it’s magic because of the paying it forward mentality.

Right now, keep doing what you are doing. Post roll the second your eyeballs open. Then keep your word. Post here to document your struggles and your wins, and get phone numbers. Yeah you might get some dick pics sent to you, but hey it’s 2019 bro!  Haha. Seriously, these connections will help you through struggles, and many of us have made lifelong friends along the way.

Bro, this is hard. But it can be done. If some weak nerd like me can post 2,206 days after 25 year, I know you can win at it. If you need a phone number or any help - shoot me a pm. I promise no dick pics. Lol

One more thing, there’s no reason to hope for success. Post roll. Keep your word. 100% chance of success. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Or next month. Or when aunt Susie has her big Christmas bash. Just today. Forget the past. It’s over and you can’t change it. One foot in front of the other. Today is the focus. Win today. You have got this.

Brotherhood + Accountability = Success
