Bronc, I combined this with your original intro. Only one allowed per person. ItÂ’s important to remember where you came from and we donÂ’t sweep failure under the rug.

You only had a few posts to your name, so you obviously never gave it much of a try last time. Make this different. Quit this time, donÂ’t just take a stab at it, try it out, or whatever. This site is about success. All you have to do is post Roll, keep your word and then do it again tomorrow. ItÂ’s simple, but itÂ’s not easy.

The tools for success are scattered all over this site. Your daily promise, connections with your Quit brothers, myriad stories of success and failures, great information about addiction and how to cope. Everything is here, but itÂ’s up to you to actually use it.

Introduce yourself to August 18, you will be asked to answer three questions. I encourage you to approach with some humility, reflection and a willingness to learn from the process. Those questions are there to help you learn from your failure and build a plan for success going forward.

Make this quit the only quit! Reach out if I can help.

Tried this back in 2013 and didn't last long. Joined the August roll call tonight. Hopefully, i can do a better job this time around.

Quit date April 27, 2018
Good luck. Your 2013 group is still active so you may want to post roll there too.

Oh, and we don't "try" here - we quit, one day at a time, every damn day, with much support.

I was a two can a day guy for 25 years. It hurts to even type that. Playing baseball as a freshmen in high school and I quit 7 months before my 40th birthday. I'm 224 days QUIT.

The first two months for me (notice I said for me) were the EASIEST. Yes that's right. I couldn't believe I was quitting. It was around day 70-80 when the bitch came screaming at me. Let's just have 1 or 2 dips a day. Maybe one while watching the game...or maybe fishing...or maybe one to reward your long hard day at work. NO NO NO NO NO!!!

Now I see people smoking/dipping at 7:00 am and it brings a smile to my face. I'm not that addicted, yellow teeth, stinky, no money having JUNKY anymore. My guard is always up. But I'm done with it.

YOU CAN DO THIS....If I can...YOU CAN!! Good luck sir. One day at a time. "I will not dip today" Start over tomorrow. KC Bronco

Hey bro, I'm kinda the black sheep of this dysfunctional family. Everyone hates me here. However, I quit tobacco after 10 years of a can a day dipping, and I've got the right to speak from experience.

I understand your fear of hunting season coming up. Nothing like sitting in that stand waiting on that buck to stroll into your plot. You've got that sweet dip in y our lip, that calm tobacco flowing into your bloodstream while you wait for that perfect shot. that can in your back pocket is your validation. It is your manhood. It is what makes you the king of the fucking wood.

Believe me, I struggle with the same battle.

Those old familiar ways.

MAN UP!!!!

Look, its in your head!

You can beat this shit like a real man, and you can still pack your lip. Pack it with Smokey Mountain or some other herbal dip that actually heals your mouth and restores health to your gums. Start working on herbal alternatives so that you go ahead and kick the physical addiction. Then you have every right to enjoy an herbal snuff on those cold mornings in the stand waiting on that 10 pointer. Take my word, I dipped every single day, ALL DAY, for ten years! I couldn't spend an hour without Skoal in my mouth. Now I function normally, doing all those things I used to love doing while dipping, but I haven't used Skoal in over a month! Its mind over matter!

You can do it. Draw on whatever motivation you need to! You will get all sorts of criticism from the hardliners here telling you "don't quit for your wife, children, etc." but don't let that get you down. Some people rely on others to make decisions for them. Some of us just need a good reason to change. You quit for your daughter / son, and that's a damn good reason!!!! My own daddy quit 20 years of tobacco for me when I was 6, because I wanted to copy him. Now he is 24 years tobacco free and has never looked back! He didnt quit cause he stopped liking tobacco! He quit for me! In fact, I believe it is actually a great thing to quit a deadly habit out of love for others!!!! What is selfishness? Is it quitting for yourself? What is selflessness? Its quitting despite yourself, because you know there are more people than just you that are counting on you.

Quit today my dear brother.

Resolve in your heart to hunt that deer, to watch that race, to fish that lake as a free man. you can still pack that lip with a healthy alternative and enjoy those perfect moments. BELIEVE ME!!!! I AM A LIVING TESTAMENT!!!! I never believed I would be able to function without a dip in my mouth!

I love you today, and I quit with you today.

Stay alive for that baby. Stay alive for your wife. Stay alive for yourself. THERE IS NO WRONG REASON TO QUIT A DEADLY HABIT!!!!! THERE IS ONLY A WRONG REASON TO CONTINUE!!!!!

Your brother and friend,

Lucius DeBorgia

Howdy everyone.  I just found this little site a few days ago and thought I'd use the support to hopefully stay off the can for good this time.  I've been dipping for well over 20 years and have tried to quit unsuccessfully many times over the last 8 or so.  Hopefully this go around will be different.  I do worry about football season and hunting season being right around the corner because those are always the seasons that I relapse and start dipping again. I told my wife the other day after spending the weekend with my 3 kids by myself that they are the reason I quit, but also a major part of the reason I dip too.  The last 8 days have been very frustrating to say the least.  Anyway, hello to all and look forward to getting to know some of you folks as we take this journey together.
The words in red are flags - start your reading here with the welcome center and the threads on killthecan.org - You can have more support than you can imagine. You need to go out and get it - some will come to you but you can grow that 10 fold with some effort.
I agree with Mich34.... You have to do this for you! Family can be a good motivator but cannot be THE reason. This is a life long battle and you will need your own resolve, not the resolve of your family. You have to want it more then anything else. We will support you in anyway that we can, but you have to own the fact that you are an addict and one is too much and a thousand is never enough. Welcome to KTC! You have the power to fight through any crave one moment at a time! It will get better but you have to walk through the fire first! The reward is your life and the pride of being quit!
Yep, I'm with Mich and Jake. After over 40 years I finally figured it out, I quit for me. I love my wife, daughter and grandkids but I couldn't quit for them no matter how many times I tried. I don't care what triggers you have none are more powerful than any of the rest of us. Now man up and get it done! Pm me if you need anything.

I couldn't agree with you more about the quitting for myself and not others. I guess the wake up call for me was watching my son and daughter pretend that they were spitting like daddy was. That's really not the role model I want to be for them.
