Spud,

Congrats on your decision to quit. I was a can a day for 32 years and currently on day 55 of my quit. You can do this and we all quit with you, every day!

You have made a fine decision.

Congratulations.

If your serious, your in the right spot. There are a few things you must do in order to get the most out of what we offer and strengthen your quit.

Read. Every single facet of this website is a tool. A tool that you can use to learn about your addiction from the experiences of others and to keep your mind off of the suck through these trying times. Explore this place. There are more stories and more information on this website than you could ever imagine in threads you would never imagine them being. Explore.

Interact. Check out the Chat Room. There are lots of guys in there both going through what you are, and those who are on the other side of that river and willing to throw you a lifeline. Utilize the people here, surround yourself with people who wont allow you to fail. Even though it always seems weird at first, make friends, exchange some phone numbers. You would be amazed at how close you get to guys you quit with.

Stick around, drink the koolaid, taste the freedom.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

Oh, and I will be looking for you on in October tomorrow bright and early...

dipp

Hey man, welcome to the group and to the first days for the rest of your clean life.

If you have any hiding or hanging around get rid of it.

I was in the same situation as you 20 days ago. I am also 41, have 2 kids, dipped since I was 18 (23 years). You will find alot of us very much alike here.

Head to the Welcome Center and read up, then come to our October Quit group and make your first of many promises to stay quit for the 24 hour period, honor that word for the day, and in the morning repeat.

talk soon and pm me if you need anything.

Derek pretty much summed it up in a nice lil package. You'd be wise to read and heed his words.

We quit one day at a time. We don't worry about tomorrow, or forever. We don't worry about the fishing trip next month, the 8 hour car ride at Thanksgiving, or the monthly poker game with the boys tomorrow night. Its literally one day at a time. Posting roll is our promise to both ourselves as well as others on the site that we will make the decison to turn away from nicotine at anytime our evil little minds tell us that just one will make everything better.

See...going back to the can or the pack is a choice, not a necessity. You have another 24 to 48 hours before the nic is out of your system. At that point the healing begins and the process gets slightly easier each day. Based on your intro, you sound like a smart and reasonable guy. So use the tools on the website to beat the cravings until you fall asleep tonight (Nyquil is the secret, I promise). Tomorrow morning, as soon as you wake up, you are going to think about a dip or a smoke. That is your reminder to hit this website and put your name on the line. Make your promise. Use the tools to fight off craves. Sleep. Repeat.

I can tell you with full faith that you will have more support behind you on your journey into a life of quit than anything you have ever had in life. Its all here. You just need to pry the lid off and invite it in. You have the strength and guts to win the battle each day. Make the choice to win and allow me and my army of fellow quitters to help.
Welcome to FREEDOM! You have the priveledge of quitting with the baddest fuckers out there! It's not easy, but worth it. Committ to us everyday that you will not use in ANY form, and we will be with you every step of your quit. I am a 41 yr old father of 4  been dipping for 22 years... smoking on  off for most of that time as well.  The family has wanted me to quit for years but I have made the choise to quit for me...

It is been hard to focus been in the "fog" and have been eating everything (which is not good because I have lost 30 lbs in since April).  and dipping the fake stuff (smokey mountain).

I thought guys were suppose to think about sex like every 30 seconds but I tell you what I can't stop thinking about the nic... crap.  'bang head'

I am officially on day 2 of being nic free.  Sunday I said no more!

I am a quitter and proud to say it!

Hey Spud,

Awesome job on making the decision to quit tobacco. I am currently on Day 3 and so far it hasn't been too horrible. The main thing is to come to this site daily and often, post your roll call every morning, and take advice from all the veterans. It is the best support you can get. Stay strong brother and stay quit!!
