Hello.  I'm a 28 year 1-2 can a day dipper.  I stopped last Sunday night, 1/18/09.  I was almost out of dip around 11:30 pm and actually got dressed to go out into the single digit Ohio weather for more.  When I put my hand on the car keys, something in me said why does this shit have this kind of control?

I still hadn't decided to quit, rather just wait until Monday to get more.  I went to bed and was going to stop off for another can on my way to work.  For some reason I didn't and haven't had any since.

I'm having a hell of a time with withdrawal symptoms.  I think I'll be okay, but everything inside me is telling me to just go get a can and then I'll be able to sleep, something I haven't done much of for about a week.

Any helpful hints, tips or information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick G in Ohio

They are all going through exactly the same thing that you are.

Drink Water. Use Seeds / Gum. Remeber how much these last 7 days have sucked. As long as you don't dip you will never have to go through that hell again.

And on a better note it does improve. Trust Me.

KR - 364 Days w/o dip
Join your quit group, read everything on this site, and if you drink coffee or any other caffeine drinks, you will need to cut your intake in half. Nicotine messes with the metabolism of caffeine, so it hits you harder when you're not using nicotine. That might help with the sleep.

This is a fact that is not passed on often enough to new quitters...even though it's posted on the home page.
Rickg Welcome. I am a former Cope whore. I used it for over 30 years and also smoked cigs. part of the time as well. You CAN this. It won't be easy and it won't be fun but it is DAMN well worth it. Stay close to this site, use chat, and get active in your quit group. PM if you need anything or a phone # to prevent a cave.
