Poke Poke...where did you go?

no posts since 1/12...I HOPE you are still quit and ready to cure addiction one day at a time, that family will need a good role model.
"If you want to quit then stop talking and just QUIT. If you want to kill yourself a bullet is cheaper and faster than a tin, plus it eliminates my hearing you whine and cry like a bitch."

Hey guys, just woke up one morning and realized it's time to quit, I'm doing it for me before my baby is born so he/she will be less accustomed to it, already made it through most of the rage moments and such, now I'm dealing with the very, very swollen and red gums, the dry mouth is slowly going away, the sore throat is still a bit of a factor but my biggest bug is the gums for sure. I just found this page today and I already feel better about quitting knowing there's a page meant to help with this. Hopefully I'll make it to the hall of fame on the date in supposed to, and many more days after that!
Hey Brein, glad you found KTC. First and foremost, it is fantastic that you are doing this for you. It may seem paradoxical to some people but the most effective way to quit is to want it for yourself more than anyone else and to be selfish with your quit. If you want it for you, and prioritize your quit at all times, then everyone else will get to enjoy all the benefits of your quit as a derivative.

Find your group, April 2016 and post roll.

Roll is your promise not to use nicotine today. You make that promise today, and each and every day that you wake up.

As for your hope. There isn't a lot of hope here. There are a lot of people who have a lot of determination, will and desire. We succeed because we don't allow failure as an option. I hope the Patriots don't win the Superbowl, but I KNOW I am quit. I know its scary at first but there isn't any "I'm just a little bit pregnant" strategies to quitting, its quit or not quit.

I quit with you today. Introduce yourself to your group. Run your hands along the walls of this place and learn the lay of the land. anytime you want to dip, come here and learn something new.
To back up Supple here, "hope" is not a strategy. "Hope" will simply not get a quit. You either will or will not and you make that choice everyday, one day at a time (ODAAT), forever.
Brien,
Allow all of us to "hope" that your quit happens and you can start a new you prior to being a new parent. I ask you to dig deep though and really see why you want to quit. If you quit for someone else the odds are that you will not make it. You need to see that you need to quit for you and you alone, let everyone else be the benefactors of the gift of life with you. The bold and underlined words below are links to help guide you around here.

Join your quit group, post roll daily and the road gets easier. This is How you post roll. This is This is what you can expect when you quit dipping.

Walking along this path is not easy, nor is it fun. You sir are an addict and you need to identify yourself as such and the healing can start. The pain and discomfort that you are feeling now is natural; you have mistreated your body for so long that it is trying to grow back. A visit to the Dentist might be scary but it is very helpful and if you tell a Dentist that you just quit they will support you more than you will believe.

You should also start to remove triggers that always lead to dipping: drinking, buddies, other items. Life will continue to go on and you will get stressed the fuck out but remember that any one problem plus nicotine is at least two problems. Fight addiction and be able to say FUCK CANCER!

Immediate steps to take are:
1 - post roll in your quit group and do this daily as early in the day as possible. This is your promise to be quit for that day.
2 - drink lots of water
3 - find an alternative to dip and have it with you at all times...just in case
4 - exercise during a craving to crush it
5 - bring others into your quit and let them help too
6 - never, ever rage against anyone other than yourself; you are an addict because of your choices so man up and fight this
7 - find your inspiration to quit, and us that as your reminder daily; the inspiration is in you
8 - read lots of stories here, I am particularly fond of the Tom Kern story; if that doesn't make you want to quit you need help

Or, if you need anything else reach out to a fellow quitter and they can help you along this path; all of us have at least one other quitter that stands with us daily, some of us have many...the choice is yours.
Thanks everyone, learned to defeat hope and I know I WILL quit entirely, (still hope to win that powerball though) but I've taken to seeds and gum when needed. I learned keeping the seeds in a cleaned out empty can it helps my trick my brain into thinking I'm taking out a pinch, and my muscles feel more calm this way. Posted on today's roll, and will tomorrow before I head out to spend some quality time with my dad and his brother for about two days. This addiction is officially on its way out the door, because I will not lose this battle or my cool.
My advice is ditch the empty can. Don't trick your brain, you are romancing an empty can and that is just another tie to addiction.

Enjoy that time out with your dad; hell maybe tell him about your quit and have one more supporter.

I hope I win the lottery tomorrow, but when it comes to nicotine, I flat out quit like fuck. Post roll, join the band.
