Deelow, You sound like you have a strong quit, stick around here and the support you get and your desire to stay quit will get you far. Keep your guard up, use fake stuff or candy if you need to, post roll and connect. You got this, I know you do.

I was exactly where you are right now just over three thousand three hundred and forty four days ago. I dipped for over 24 years. If I can do this, you can do this. You have no idea how great things will get!

Listen to the posts above. They are right on the money!

Be a winner!

Hi all, I'm a 35 year old addict. I've dipped in various forms for the last 15-16 years, (subtract about a total of a year where I "quit" a few times). I was and still am a city dweller, decided to try to fit in with my country folk at a frat party freshman year of college...

First ever pinch - Skoal Long Cut Cherry, changed my life not for the better. The next day, went to the UNI picked up a Skoal Long Cut Spearmint. From that point forward, I was a dipper. Skoal Straight, Skoal Mint, Red Seal from the Res when I couldn't afford it, that was all within the 4 years of college, fast forward 12 years after 2 kids, I am dipping Skoal Mint Pouches so my colleagues wont see the "stuff on my teeth", but they notice I dip anyway, because I dip a minimal of 2 pouches at time, which comes out to 4 cans a day. And if you haven't caught on, yes, I gut it.

Over of third of my life has been spent under the influence, so much so I find it extremely hard to function without it. Prior to making the commitment to KTC, I tried to tapper down, well that sucked more than quitting. I'm over the embarrassment, I'm done with the fear about my family's future without me, I quit the cost of the stuff (direct and indirect, like dental bills).

It will be tough, but I'm done with it all.
Great job on taking that step....

I was a gutter too, and tried the tapper thing for like 2 years before jumping in with both feet.

You can do this... 1 day at a time. Before you know it you be at 100 days. But for now, you focus on not using TODAY.
Welcome KTC Deelow. Congrats on the decision to take back your life. As you know, it's going to be pure hell for a while. But it does get better and the feeling of freedom is sooo sweet on the other side. You can do this. There's not a person here that has quit that possesses an ability you don't have. We've all made it through the fog and you can too.

We post our promise every day, quitting 1 day at a time. Make sure to post early. It's a promise to yourself and your fellow Quitters that you won't use nicotine in any form for the rest of the day, NOT a status update at the end of the day as to how you did. Get to know you fellow Quitters. The friendships you develop here will go a long way in helping you to stay Quit on those rough days. This is mostly what has helped me about this site. I can't pull into that gas station now with the intent of buying without thinking of how I'd be letting down everyone of my friends here. Be sure to exchange digits too. So times sending a text during a rough moment will get you back on track and keep you on the straight and narrow.

Proud to Quit with you today Deelow!
If there's anything I can do to help let me know.
My digits are in your inbox.
Just one and you will be back where you started.
And where you started was desperately wishing
you were where you are right now.

Deelow, you have the right mindset. It won't always be easy, but if you never forget the broken man that showed up here on your day 1, you will never willingly go back to that place. Like you, I didn't have a health scare or anything like that. I got sick and tired of being a slave to a crushed up plant in a can. Constantly dodging my family just so I could get my fix. The definition of a junkie, it just didn't sink in because my "drug" was legal.

Latch on to this place with everything you have. Make your quit an absolute priority every day for awhile. It will feel like you're trading one addiction (dip) for another (KTC) for a short time, but I promise you it will exponentially increase your likelihood of success. The more invested you are in your quit, the better off you'll be. Congrats on a great choice. One day at a time will get it done. You can and will do this if you are committed.
